Interwebs & Beyond: Advertising for Tex
free advice: you can`t satisfy everyone
i can`t remember exactly (i didt` save previous iterations), but i think yellow text was better before - nice type, but too small, hard to read
and you definitely need to re-think color for "project fedora"
and that thick black windows paint-like line... it`s too close to "project fedora" and not centered between it and web adress
maybe make it thinner and more cuspidal?
i`ve thought of something like that blue line, but straight of course. and without all the fog

Played about with it (but without a layered file its kind of a rough hack):

Original:
http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/comm ... poster.jpg
- - Changed to a Sci-Fi font (the montage reminds me of Star Wars posters and the games do have a sci-fi theme)
- Separated the game genres from heading
- Put sub-heading in different text style to heading
- Made the Tex logo bigger and shifted the rest of the text to be under the montage
- Adjusted skin tone on Jackson Cross' and Wanda Peck's skin slightly
- Adjusted contrast on each figure and reduced some of the artefacting
- Added a Gradient Map above to blend hues and shadows together
- Made Project Fedora font like the style Big Finish had before the 3D for video one
- Made the Tex Murphy font a gradient similar to the Tex logo.

Okay, Sai, I kinda hate you because it's not really mine anymore. Yet I kinda love you cause it looks so good. Well, this is for Tex, not a place for personal egos so thanks for the help, it looks really good. I'll send you the layered file if you think you can make it look even better that way but you'll have to get it back to me pretty fast.

I have been contemplating some additional avenues to tap the public conscience.
Project “Fedora Mob”
This idea is similar to the ‘Flash Mob’ concept but must differ in execution due to the likelihood that the most ardent fans are rather dispersed throughout the world. How to compensate for the lack of concentrated numbers is by coordinating groups to dress up in a manner similar to our beloved PI and show up in the background of local morning news broadcasts on a specific day. With appropriate and concise signage to promote both the KS campaign and the Tex Murphy character.
Hopefully enough people live in close enough proximity to form a sizable group to accomplish this otherwise a solitary figure could be easily dismissed.
If anyone lives in or near NYC, The Today Show would be an excellent venue and opportunity to promote the campaign along with adventure games in general. In fact it may be beneficial to appeal to the wider adventure game community to participate which could increase the ranks. Another outlet could be one of the late night shows. Imagine a portion of the audience wearing Fedoras, surely that would raise some curiosity from the host.
Perhaps doing it more than once would be beneficial such as Friday, assuming this is a viable idea, which could happen three times before the end of the KS. At the very least it could be done twice and if not Friday there is Monday.
Those who wish to dress up should go with the Fedora and Trench coat combo, or something reminiscent, because it is distinctive and has the broadest recognition with the general populace. No need to go to the expense of being completely accurate, simply wear a broad brim hat and long coat should be sufficient. For those that want to pursue authenticity don’t forget the shirt, tie, khakis, and tennis-shoes.
It would be advisable to refrain from smoking, else it may incur the ire and alienate parents from permitting their children from inquiring about the game(s). The irony does not escape me that some of those folks are completely content on letting their kids play mature rated shooters but that is another discussion.
Groups that are formed should designate a spokesperson to present the mission statement and be prepared to provide further information about the series.
Possible slogan: “Adventure Games are like Jell-O, there’s always room for a little more.”
“Tex Murphy (Adventure) Games are like Jell-O, there’s always room for a little more.”
“Kick start Project Fedora.”
To take another page from silly memes such as ‘Planking’ everyone could go out to famous locals and have their picture taken dressed up like Tex and/or with campaign signage. Then upload those pictures to various pertinent outlets, such as the obligatory Facebook or similar social sites.
One final idea was a fan created sync video, although this may be too late in the game to attempt. This is more complicated in some ways due to nebulous wonders of copyright shenanigans. Sometimes music publishers will let things slide but far too often they are unaccommodating.
My thoughts are to have fans dance -be it a unique choreography or an established dance, or simply being at cool locations, to a particular song promoting their affections for the series and the campaign. Then edit those clips together, upload to Youtube, and see if it might catch on.
Assuming we could garner permission, The Proclaimers’ “I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)” or “I’m On My Way” seem to be appropriately themed and still plenty catchy.
Any thoughts?
Best Regards

It's taking a while to skip through the games and get screen shots: does anyone have pictures of Tex clearly intoxicated, being unceremoniously abused/rejected by a lady (or a compromising image of Tex with someone less-than-a-catch --or too *much* of a catch =P ), and failing spectacularly at maintaining a state of perfect grace? I'd like to incorporate them into a fun digital Project Fedora ad poster. Please e-mail me at dmonathFEDORAgmail.com replacing "FEDORA" with the @ sign. Thanks!
Ok, I'm getting ready to shill to my friends on Facebook. I haven't done a direct plea to my Facebook friends yet, and want to make sure it comes out right. How does something like this sound?
If you have even a slight interest PC video games please check out this Kickstarter. Help support a small publisher! I don't play a lot of games, but I played this one in the late 90's and I never forgot it. It's got adventure, mystery, sci-fi, noir, humor, adventure, puzzle solving, exploration and detective-style game play. Something you don't see in practically any game these days. Just thought I would throw it out their to my friends in case anyone is interested.

Could sound preachy? I think most gamers, especially if they don't know a particular game series, aren't too bothered about who published it (just being honest, I have some publishers I keep an eye on but most the time I look at the game itself to see if I;m interested not the publisher).
Other than that sounds great!

Back from the convention. Sadly a fairly strict No Signs policy was enacted this year but I didn't know and nobody noticed I had one until a day and a half into it, so I'm confident that at least a few hundred people saw it and were interested. I can definitely say a few were interested when they saw me projecting The Pandora Directive on one of the convention walls(and one ceiling) so I hope they followed up on it. Today I'm off to get the image printed on a T-shirt to wear for the rest of the campaign. Added an image of the projected game to Screenshots.
