Project Fedora Steam Group

Everyone, please join the Tex Murphy Project Fedora Steam group and invite all of your Steam friends. That will be the fastest and easiest way to spread the word about Tex Murphy Project Fedora. To do that, just join the group and click invite friends, then all, then invite.

We can spread the word about the 50% off GOG deal too! :-)

I've seen "Steam" mentioned on the KS boards quite a bit. Not really sure what it is, though. From what I read on their "About Us" page, and I guess it's like a cloud storage for your games (that you purchase from them) and you can play it on any computer (provided you have their platform download) and chat with others playing the game? Or can you play the same game together?? Am I on the right track? Any other informative tidbits about this website?

Steam is the largest downloadable game distribution service on the PC and Mac and has over 2,000 games (including hundreds of adventure games) and 40 million users. It’s a huge target audience.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_(software)
"Steam is a digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications platform developed by Valve Corporation. It is used to distribute games and related media online, from small independent developers to larger software houses. Steam also has community features, automated game updates, in-game voice and chat functionality.
As of January 2012, there are 1504 games available through Steam,[4] and 40 million active user accounts.[5] The concurrent users peak was 5 million on January 2, 2012.[6] Although Valve never releases sales figures, Stardock, former owner of competing platform Impulse, estimated in 2009 that Steam had a 70% share of the digital distribution market for video games.[7]"

Many games are also Steam exclusives and require the use of Steam.
I was like that Cathy a year or 2 ago. I was like what the heck is Steam, sounds like a Steampunk community fansite

If I can remember my Steam login I'll join the group.

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
Has anyone else been inviting people to the Steam group? We now have almost 1,000 members, and I’ve talked to quite a few of them. It’s turning into a really huge group of people who didn’t know about the Kickstarter before hand, but are interested in it now. So far, it’s been mostly myself, Sai, and Bruno inviting people. It would be cool if we have more dedicated Tex fans invite people in the short time we have left. What we’ve been doing is we search for another group on Steam (usually adventure, but I added some people from the Max Payne 3 group too), and then we invite members of the group by going to their profile page, and then clicking invite to my group, and then the group name.

The other way to quickly get a lot of group invites is to look at profiles that have a lot of friends (in the range of 100 to 300 is good), and then adding them as a friend and inviting them to the group. If they accept the friend request, I’ve been politely requesting them to mass invite all of their friends (which they can easily do in just 3 clicks that take about 10 seconds). Most people usually end up doing it, and I’ve been offering a gift to the Humble Indie Bundle V for those that do it (I bought a bunch of those for a penny). www.humblebundle.com (ends Thursday!)

Steam limits invites to 200 per two hours or something like that. The group history can always be checked to see how many invites were made recently. If the invite records aren’t showing up in the history, then it means that they are not going through because the limit has been reached.

Best of all, this method isn’t spammy at all. At least 30% of those invited to the group have joined the group, and no one has complained. It’s kind of like getting a bunch of app requests from friends on Facebook – easy to accept, but even easier to ignore.
Hello everyone...i would like to ask all of you to help us in these last 3 days to spread the word over on Steam. If you don´t have a account, please do one, it is easy and i would mean a lot to us over here and there. We need all the help we can get inviting people there to join our Tex group so more people can pledge and we can smash these strech goals.
Thanks in advance.
I'm there too! Nickname: gufino2
