Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis
SG1 is my favourite TV show. I can't say I watched too much Atlantis though... it was always shown during the time I would be at work so I never had the opportunity to get into it.
When I save up a bit of cash I will probably get the box sets of each season of SG-1 and watch them through again. We are doing that now with the X-files box sets... although, knowing 'the Truth' kind of makes it a little bit less exciting.
I was thoroughly disappointed to learn that the Stargate SG-1 game (Stargate: The Alliance, which was in production for over 2 years) had been most likely cancelled. Actually, in one of the SG-1 episodes where Teal'c had to go into the computer simulation, they used content from the upcoming game to create those parts in the episode. But alas with the Xbox 360 out already, the already prominant problems with the 'destined for original Xbox' title contributed to a downhill battle for the developers... who are also in a court battle, after American developers 'JoWood' falsely tried to claim the rights of the game off Sydney developers 'Perception'. Perception says that they are confident the game will be released, despite the fact that JoWood has attempted numerous times to sabotage Perception and the game itself in order to dodge making payments of it's development.

I love these shows! They're the only things I watch that're still in production. Everything else is either off-the-air or in syndication.
As far as The Alliance is concerned, Perception had always considered the possibility of making it for the next-generation consoles. It was the deadline they were originally given that prompted them to lower their graphics' quality for the current generation. I wouldn't count them out just yet. There's a reason why a formal cancellation hasn't happened yet. Maybe they're locking their chevrons as we speak.

No unfortuantely the Alliance game is dead. Perception closed its doors so I dont see any chance of it being picked up by someone else. On another message board I read where one of the laidoff game designers said that fans of the show would not have been happy with the game as it stood. Basicly they confirmed the story from MGM that the game simply did not meet a mininum standard quality for continued development.
Besides MGM has already licensed another game under the stargate name but this one is going to be called Stargate Worlds. Its a online game.
As for the show I have all the box sets for atlantis and Sg-1. Hands down its the best show on TV. Although I have to say that this season of Battlestar G has turned me off for good to that show.

For me I just hate the whole balthus story line. But the killer for me was the episode about abortion. They way certain things were taken just offended me.
Well, the abortion treatment bothered me, as well. But then again, the thing I love about the show is how they don't shy away from hard situations that test the beliefs of the writers. I'm tough enough to be able to tolerate watching a TV show when it does a few things I disagree with, especially because elsewhere on the show there are treatments on issues that I like that the makers of the show don't actually like but which are portrayed because they believe it's what the given characters would do in a given situation. The writers have consistently written things for their characters to believe/say/do that they themselves don't personally agree with, but which they feel they themselves might accept in such dire circumstances as face the fleet in the BG universe. So assassinations are ordered by the same people who are not against abortion on moral grounds but who outlaw abortion based on exigency, etc. Indeed, one of the fundamental themes in the writing has to do with challenging abstract idealogies when faced with real world problems.
As for "Balthus", whom I assume is Gaius Baltar, I love it. Especially after "Downloaded."

Perhaps....
But my thinking is that while its great they are willing to take up difficult questions and tackle them. They seem to get the problem all wrong and present invalid (in my opinion) theories as to motivations of key issues. So in escense all they are really doing is presenting their own viewpoint and sending a message.
Just my two cents..
There's definitely some of that, but I don't really think the writers are usually conscious of it (which is something). But then there are times that they portray their own in a bad light. For instance, RDM thought it a startling thing to write anti-war activists in as a problem for the fleet, seeing as how he and the writers are actually leftists and are usually on the side of anti-war activists in real life. But those are just my 2 cents. Now what can we buy with $.04?
Hopefully i can lend all seasons and watch them all in a few days EVIL GRIN.

Good luck, if you watch all the episodes it will take you 5.44 days of watching non-stop without any breaks for sleeping or eating.
Recently me an my wife started to watch the whole series again from start to finish it took us 2 months of watching 3 episodes a day. On some days we watched as many as 9 episodes.
Have a good time, I know I always do when I watch them!!
