Backers! New video update by Chris!
it actually is available. They're doing a private Beta for all UnityPro users. (which from the footage, they were using a Black UI suggesting they are in fact UnityPro- which would mean they'd have access to the beta).
I'm just wondering because it'd be a bit annoying to see them go out with a 3.5 release around the time 4 comes out- visually its a huge difference- my hopes is that they'll transition into it when the time comes or upgrade it post-release.

I know that they suggested "maybe Unity" during the Kickstarter campaign (which was then relayed on the forum etc. here) but don't think they mentioned if they were going ahead with it or the version number.
http://digitalhippos.com/gaming/spotlig ... ickstarterabout the engine for the game? Propietary or licensed?
Well, you see the engine we have here(Points at TruGolf screen) but the conversation is can we take what we've already developed and make this? Another option is Unity or Unreal but I think it will end up a combination of a lot tools mixed with Unity or something else but we haven't truly decided.

Chris confirmed it and they showed it off in the backers video. If they bought Unity in the past 4 months then its highly likely they already have the Unity 4 license (since its bundled together at the moment). I'm gonna say its probably 4 but I'd like to get some confirmation on this.I know that they suggested "maybe Unity" during the Kickstarter campaign (which was then relayed on the forum etc. here) but don't think they mentioned if they were going ahead with it or the version number.
OK, this might seem a bit out there but, as a programmer, I never use beta tools to develop production software. Frankly, I would be astounded if they are using a BETA engine to develop a PRODUCTION game! Are you kidding? I mean, there's bleeding edge and then there's crazy bleeding edge. You don't use beta software to dev a production product.
Oh was that the Countdown video for when the Kickstarter was closing up? I remember now I never did get around to sitting down and watching the whole thing through (I missed some when it switched links due to cutting out). Or if it was another Google Hangout thing, I'd love a link if it has a Youtube copy like the Countdown ones, thanks.
(bit sleep deprived so sorry if this is a stupid question).
I skipped the video incase of spoilers (even if minor) so overlooked the Unity thing, good to know they've settled on one. Though they mentioned earlier they may use other engines too like their own TruGolf so I guess it could still be a mixture by the end of development.
And yeah I don't really know much about these different engines but would be cool to know. When speculation on what engine they would use came up I checked out Youtube demos and they all look great (especially compared to the old games of course) like this noir style one for Unity 3. mr_cyberpunk, you could probably drop them an email or ask on the backer forum, one of the staff on there might be able to pass on a message to the programmers.

Unity 4 will be out of beta in the next couple month, so it'll probably be that, but the difference as far as this project is concerned is probably being overstated. I don't think it really matters much.
I'm really happy with the video they've shown. Big Finish is so small and the graphics in their previous games were pretty questionable, that I really wasn't expecting much visually, but what we saw looked great and captured the mood of the old Tex games very well. And to see something like that so early is really encouraging.
This really could end up being the best Tex game yet. I cannot wait.

Ah, I had no idea. Well I'm not active on Google+ but if someone could drop a message on the forums here when a guest pops in there (even if by surprise) hopefully I can make it on. Whats the link to the group?
