The Walking Dead Comics vs Show (Without Spoilers)

So I was wondering what the difference is between the show and the comics without spoiling things to come.

From what we have seen already in the show, anyone care to say what is different between them?

I am guessing, Jen, you would be the expert in this dept.

Thanks.
Matt
There's quite a bit of difference. Since most of the character I'm talking about are dead, I figure pretty spoiler free. But read at your OWN RISK!!!

Let me see, Karl kills Shane, Andrea and Dale get jiggy (ew..) and he dies much later in the comics than he did in the show. He hid a walker bite and had an amputated leg much like Hershel. T-Dog is Tyresse in the comics, and he gets REAL dialogue and is a much better fleshed out character, pretty much Rick's sidekick, ( I think at some point he boinked Carol and Michonne.) Merle and Daryl don't exist, (I like Daryl very much, nice addition) Lori did not die that way in the comics, she and the baby lived.... (for awhile maybe heh) A few more people from the Farm lived only to die in the prison, so no huge loss. Sophia doesn't die at the farm.

There's some stuff about the prisoners that hasn't happened or maybe won't happen. That would be too bad cause it's REALLY intense.
That's all that comes to mind right off the cuff.
I almost always like the characters that weren't in the books {or this case comics}... They always give the show a bit more life and can definitely change the course that the show takes, they can also give them exciting twists... For the simple fact that, there is no possible way you can know what they might or might not do...

I do intend on reading the Comics, the only problem is the former comics are practically unobtainable at this point {I prefer to have a hard copy over reading online}...
I did however start to collect the Action Figures... Who knows they might make for a nice nest egg for my Grandchildren or Great Grandchildren... I know a few of them have more than doubled in value and Daryl is just off the hook, in some cases worth 10 times as much as it originally was... Hopefully one day I'll have the opportunity to get the Daryl ones signed... I'd have to say that I think he is the most well liked character from the show, though Michonne seems to be a close second...

As for actual differences, since I'm not a reader I can't provide anything for you there... I think Jen did quite a nice job though...

Comics? Unobtainable? Inconceivable!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Okay maybe I should have said Unobtainable at a decent price... lol
People have put a big value on The Walking Dead... Not easy to get the earlier issues...

30 odd bucks is a great deal for this HUGE mound of paper, the sucker is a weapon in on itself. And Compendium 2 is out as well. So less than 70 bucks with free shipping for almost 100 issues of the comic book is super cheap!
No, you're right that is a great price... I was talking about the Individual Comics themselves... But this will certainly do nicely to start reading and to catch up on the Comics... Didn't know there was a compilation available... Thank you...

The broad strokes of the show is pretty similar to the comics. The same things happen to the group, but what happens to the individual people are different. Characters die in different ways at different times.
