Armikrog: New Neverhood Pseudo-sequel
Over the last year or so, we've seen sequels or follow-ups to almost every classic adventure game series I care about. Really, there was only one big name left in my adventure game wish list that hadn't yet showed up: The Neverhood.
The Neverhood was never really an amazing piece of game design, but you'll never find a game with a more unique personality, wonderfully surreal visual style, and a masterpiece of a soundtrack.
So imagine my delight when I hear Doug TenNapel, creator of The Neverhood and Earthworm Jim announces that he's reuniting with Mike Dietz and Ed Schoefield (who also worked on both those games) to do a new claymation point-and-click adventure game, and that Terry S. Taylor would be returning to do the soundtrack. Although they don't have the rights to the Neverhood IP for the purpose of videogames, it's very apparent that this is a Neverhood game in all but name.
So it's called "Armikrog" and it seems like they've already jumped head first into production. If you look up Armikrog on Facebook, there are pictures of them building sets and animating puppets already. It's not really clear when they're hoping to release or how they're funding the project (no one has uttered the word Kickstarter yet), but I imagine these details will become clear over time.
