Rest in Peace - A Thread for People Who Have Passed Away

Wow, I really wasn't expecting to hear that about James Gandolfini.
He was such a good actor too.

Unfortunately, I never did get into the Sopranos.... although it is a show I would like to see.

Why is it that these actors always seem to die after the peak of their career?
It has only been 6 yrs since the show ended.

He was also so young .... 51?
Matt
In terms of physical bulk, James was a big man. Some who carry the weight manage to live to an older age while some are just hit when middle aged. That's the sad thing with heart conditions; there's rarely any warning shots
Richard Matheson has died at 87... Really sucks that there will be no more Matheson books or movies... This man truly had a gift of imagination...

Fred Buer wrote:Blake Edwards has passed on, 88 years old. He directed, among other films, Breakfast at Tiffany's and the Pink Panther-films. The originals, anyway.

My favorite was A Shot in the Dark.

Richard Matheson was a literary giant, no doubt and I'm saddened by how little attention his passing has gotten.

Look him up if you are not aware of him. He was extremely influential. Novels, TV shows (Kolchak: Night Stalker) Twilight Zone episodes. It just goes on and on.

Amazing man.
Eileen Brennan has died at 80 years old... She had many roles, 121 according to IMDB, so I'm not sure what most of you may know her from best, but some of us might know her best from things like Private Benjamin, Clue, and Sting... But she has had many roles with a career that has spanned almost 6 decades...

No more Tom Clancy Novels will grace our shelves or e-readers... The last one will come out in December... Sadly he died today at 66... The man knew how to put words to paper... He was born and lived right here in Maryland too... A great loss to the book world...

Marcia Wallace passed away.

She's probably most known for her voicing the character of Edna Krabappel on 'The Simpsons'.

Rock icon, Lou Reed, leaves us at age 71. Great songwriter and musician, I saw him live when he last toured Melbourne. Very charismatic performer.
Lou Reed - he was a giant. A grumpy f:+**er but we loved him dearly and we'll miss him a lot. I'm having a Lou and the Velvets day today and having a drink and a melancholy time remembering discovering him and them and how glorious all that was.

I saw him live twice, once in the late 80s and once in the 90s for the Magic and Loss tour. At the moment, there is more loss than magic...

Goodnight son, if you meet Nico please give her my love.

Actor Ed Lauter died a few weeks ago.

Anyone who watches TV knows his face. Believe me, you've seen him. The guy was on every TV show ever made. He was one of those guys who never seemed to age, maybe because he always had that "middle-aged" look.

Comedy, horror, cop-shows, pretty much anything.
