Discuss your fears about the new game
Good idea James & Sam!!!
Yeah look at everything, in everything, behind everything, up at everything, down everything, between everything and talk to everyone a million times just to hear their voices, especially Rook and Clint. What? YESSSSSS.
So I'll need another day off then

That's a pretty good point. I've played those games so many times, and while I love them, I pretty much know them like the back of my hand. Having a new game to experience will very likely mean I won't be playing the others for quite some time.plumgas wrote:my biggest fear is not wanting to ever play pandora & overseer again after playing tesla effect!
I recently replayed UAKM and Pandora in anticipation. Will be playing Overseer soon.
My biggest fears for Big Finish Games is whether the new TM: Tesla Effect will be positive sale % margin (better then TM: Pandora Directive) with Atlus as BFG publisher to bring this new game to new fans who have never heard of Tex Murphy before and hopefully getting positive feedback would let BFG make a new Tex Murphy game.
I know gaining new fans for Adventure genre like Tex Murphy will be tough for today generation of gamers to buy the product due to high popularity are into Call of Duty trilogy, Mass Effect trilogy, Dragon Age trilogy, Assassin Creed trilogy, and among other popularity games that most of you probably know about. I hope Big Finish Games can change that with the new TM: Tesla Effect game when its on GoGo, Steam, and among other popular retails online and retail stores.
I am not sure if this new game will be a short game (5-10 hours) with short main story since most gamers don't want to spend $60 dollars for a short game full version retail product they can complete in 1 day which tend to get negative review feedbacks but I could be wrong on that.
So hopefully the new TM: Tesla Effect game is about same length or bit longer then TM: Pandora Directive length of gameplay/story.

Chris Jones has said the game is about as big, if not bigger than Pandora, so it's definitely not short. I doubt the game will retail for $60, though. I'm guessing it will go for $30 at launch. $60 is the price for new AAA titles. Tesla Effect won't be able to compete for gamers' dollars at that price.RyanPatton wrote:I am not sure if this new game will be a short game (5-10 hours) with short main story since most gamers don't want to spend $60 dollars for a short game full version retail product they can complete in 1 day which tend to get negative review feedbacks but I could be wrong on that.

It's already been addressed by Chris Jones, but my main fear is that the game will be too short.
I remember blowing through Martian Memorandum twenty years ago in about 2 days and just feeling terrible that it had ended so fast.
I hope the game isn't artificially lengthened with too many Myst style puzzles (like Black Dahlia.)
Oh, and where the hell is Mac Malden?

1. I'm not sure how other people view game length, but I don't view it in terms of difficulty. I view it in how long does it take to complete something after you understand it.
2. I'm not sure if you knew, but the actor who played Malden is not around anymore. That however doesn't mean he's out of the game. He could have a different role, such as a silhouette or sending postcards.

[EDIT: This should give you SOME idea of what that could mean. http://www.howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=10127
Though I now have a new concern - will there be a proportionate amount of gameplay? The mix in Pandora was pretty damn perfect.]
