Countdown to "where's my code I want it now waaaa"
Nothing can shade the joyous rays that will shine tomorrow!
That being said, you just know there will be an influx of posts on the BFG forum and facebook from people who haven't been paying attention until now looking for their free download codes.
Where's my key? I haven't got it yet!
I don't want GOG.com I want Steam! (and vice versa)
Is this DRM free?! You said it would be DRM free!
The game won't run on my ______ because ______! Fix it!
....etc.
I expect some of them to be mean and I hope BFG is prepared for dealing with their inevitable crap.
So let's all take a moment to have a laugh about it

I am a new Tex Murphy fan, late to the game, and a little disappointed in your tone. It's not cool to laugh at anyone. Don't you want to be more inclusive by being compassionate? It would better help to enlarge the Tex Murphy fan base, something that NEEDS to happen so we can get the trilogy that Tesla Effect is the first part of.
Be nice to us new fans, please
Yes, some people will be impatient and frustrated, you would be too if you were in their shoes. If you don't believe me, ask the people, even the ones who weren't late to the game, how they felt when they had driver issues after downloading the demo. Looking at some of the threads, people were very patient and offered assistance and it strengthened the community. No one treated it like "inevitable crap", but rather a chance to find solutions that everyone could benefit from.
Some people will be mean, but to respond in kind is a lose-lose proposition. Just something to think about...
P.S. ARGH!!! Where's my code???!!!

All it would take would be someone taking 5 minutes of their time to send a kickstarter message to all backers with a friendly reminder that "We will send game codes shortly, please be patient". I'm not holding my breath for that to happen though. I'm sure they'll have a hectic time as it is, dealing with real customers. Kickstarter backers aren't going anywhere and they're a patient breed. If you back a lot of kickstarter projects you get used to it. Anyway, I'm not going to preach here about waiting - I'm sure we're all experts on that subject here (am I allowed to joke about that?). I'm grateful for the genius of releasing on a Wednesday - this leaves 3 days for things to settle down before most of us have time to play anyway and fingers crossed by then everyone will receive an email.
I was being a dick. Sorry about that.
I'm just bracing for the potential troubles that will come up when the game is released. I guess it's the same for any game, really.
Thanks for actually creating accounts specifically to tell me I'm wrong!
I didn't know you cared. Welcome!
Everyone else around here is way nicer than I am, really.

I've been doing software support/q&a/system administration, etc. for years so I know EXACTLY what you are talking about
It comes with the territory. Best to keep a positive perspective about it so you feel good about helping them, they feel good that the people in the forum are so friendly to help/respond, and everybody wins. Of course there are always going to be a few nasty folks, but you can't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch.

According to user "BMacklin", he/she received their key via email:

Here's another, assuming it isn't the same person. This time around, ProtonAx:
