Are the novels & radio theatre official Tex Murphy canon?

Amongst Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who fans, there always has been constant debate as to what extent the books, comics, video games, audio plays and spin-off shows should be considered canon to those franchises. That is, to what extent does the spin-off/sibling media impact the lore of the primary intellectual property? For example, JJ Abrams and George Lucas recently announced that anything from the expanded universe in Star Wars, including the Zahn Trilogy of the early 1990s, is not to be considered as officially a part of the canon and that the last official chapter of the Star Wars saga is Return of the Jedi.

Whereas, with Tex Murphy, it's different. Including UKAM, since that period there has been four games. Two of those games include multiple paths , endings and decisions that are decided by the player. Although we all have our preferred endings, there never really has been a statement on what the official or proper endings are. This leads me to think that if you're serious about the chronology and canon, then the logical source material for official canon is probably the books and radio theatre. This is because they contain set events and set endings, we have no control over them. Plus, they're officially produced and released by Chris and Aaron.

With the novel of Tesla coming up, i'm trying to predict whether the ending I achieved so far is the "desired" ending. Of course, I will be playing the game at least another three or four times more to get those other endings. But the Tex Murphy universe is fascinating because of the potential for the accompanying media to actually dictate the canon more than the games themselves.
Congratulations Joel,

I hereby christian this thread the Nerdiest of All Threads to Ever Appear on This Forum and in Any Other Forum Anywhere.

It's certainly a valid question though. I guess the Tesla Novel would have the official story.

We are just playing variations of it.

**Update. I take it back about it being the nerdiest thread of all time. I just remembered a huge argument I read on a videogame forum regarding the chronology of the Sonic the Hedgehog games and how they fit into the "Sonic Canon." That one takes the title.
Having just finished reading the Tesla Effect novel, I can assure you that the ending is satisfactory and maybe not what anyone was expecting. As I have only played the Game two times with two different endings, I haven't struck the book ending in either of them. Book is highly recommended.
