To all the women on this site - here's to you!
I have been on this Board (and its previous incarnations) for a long time, although I post only rarely. I attempted what I thought was a humorous entry on this thread, which to my surprise drew some vitriolic responses. My answer to those is, get a life and find some sense of humour from somewhere.
This is supposed to be a Board about Tex Murphy. Okay, the moderator says it is about everything including cheeseburger goulash recipies, but I assumed the guy meant withing the confines of the Tex Murphy world. If there are no news about the future of TM or if people are bored with the existing games, books, etc, then maybe it is time we all went home.

Hmmm. Interesting post - and very much to the point. However, over the years we have become more than just a Tex Murphy community. We have formed an international brotherhood, dedicated to the preservation of Tex, for sure, but free to discuss any and all matters, yes, even cheeseburger goulash recipes. By becoming fast friends we are able to speak openly about numerous subjects without fear of reprisal.
Friends, I might add, do not limit their conversations to one particular subject. Rather, they feel free to expound anything and everything for the sake of good conversation, enduring relationships, and hope for the future - especially Tex Murphy.
Your comments are appreciated, but we are NOT going home. We like it here and plan on staying, even if there is no future prospects for Tex Murphy. "A family that plays together, stays together."

"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I would also argue that people (here, certainly) are far from bored with the games and are enticed by the possibility of a future action/adventure hybrid Tex game that is being hinted at as a possible future game from Indie Built.
But even if no more games are made - although I doubt it given the TM team's tenacity - the games we have are more than enough to generate daily Tex-oriented posts on this forum. I would compare it to the community dedicated to preserving and discussing the old Sierra games: http://queststudios.com/quest/Sierra1.html albeit a smaller version therof.

We're a community. A family in a way. Sometimes we bicker - that's pretty normal. We don't always agree with each other's point of view, but we tend to like and have a mutual respect for each other.
Tex games brought us here, but here we found good company and we've hung about ever since. Even if there's no Tex game ever again I'll still post here.

thesdons00, it wasn't just your comment in particular... (not sure if thats what you meant but your wording sounded as if you were taking it personally)
Well, its not just about the games, its about the community that came off the games too. We all came here for one reason (Tex Murphy) but we stay because of many. What Aaron etc. made was a wonderful creation and the community it in turn created is something to enjoy too.
Yeah there's no news, but chill out with some good people here and maybe the time will go by quicker to there is news.
As for being bored of the games/books etc. - certainly not. And whenever someone has something enw to bring to the table about them we all join in readily.
You don't have to stay if you don't feel there is a point but you're welcome back anytime...

As "the guy" in question, let me say that the subject matter of this board was never intended to be limited to just Tex-related topics. This board has always been a place for those with a common interest (the Tex games) to come and talk about whatever happens to float their boat.thesdons00 wrote:This is supposed to be a Board about Tex Murphy. That being said, we all have a responsibility as members of this board to employ a certain degree of tact and forethought before posting about potentially incendiary topics. I admit to being guilty of breaking that rule myself, at times, and I've always felt bad about it afterward. It's a testament to the community we all share that our flare-ups don't turn into flame wars... usually.
Noogie properly administered and hug received and returned. Love you too Jen
Well, if nothing else, a bit o' controversy may show eachother here the differences in us. But then we remember why we're here, and that unites us. We're on this train together, and the more we're here in our company, the more we learn about that company. And while maybe not all of it is positive and happy, it's all chalked up to experience, isn't it?
What I am trying to say is this - we get to know eachother better and better, for better or worse.
And, as Jim coined it, this brotherhood of ours, it's ties are strong enough to support us for who we are. I've seen it, over and over.

(Disclaimer: Just got home from a birthday-party - just a lil' bit on the empty side of the bottle. Hope that explains my nostalgic writings and love of my own voice, even if it is no justification. Cheers!)

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
