Tex Murphy Movie
Hello all, I have been looking at a PC game called "The Movies". This game is a Sims type of game, where you run a movie studio. It also has the ability for you to make your own movies. If you would like to see an example of what type of movies you can make, go to http://movies.lionhead.com/ I have not purchased the game yet, but was wondering if any of you own it and how hard would it be to make a Tex fan movie?
It's not really a bad game for making fan fiction, but you have to play through the complete story mode to unlock all the sets & stuff in order to fully utilize the sandbox mode.
There aren't a whole lot of futuristic sets, & definitely no hovercars, but there's ways to give the impression of Tex's world using the game.
The StarMaker program that comes with the Movies game gives you the opportunity to create almost exact likenesses of favorite actors, provided you have the patience to tweak all the quite numerous settings to get things "just right". The only gripe I have about it is that the StarMaker version of an actor looks most like the real-life actor when set 10 years younger than their real-life self.
Aside from those things, I think the only gripe would be that some of the scenes & facial expressions can be somewhat, & in some cases greatly, exaggerated from something that you'd like to take seriously, but the plus side is that you always know what a character's mood is.
I think the Movies game experience, as well as its sandbox features, will be greatly enhanced by the upcoming Stunts & Effects expansion, which will add model miniatures, green screen, the ability to place the camera virtually ANYWHERE, & other much desired features that may make the fan fiction creators in us all more highly value the original game.
The expansion comes out in about a week. I'll try to have played by this time next month & get back with you about it. Until then, if anyone can beat me to it, they're welcome to do so.
