Would you be willing to buy another game to play a TM remake
I took option one even thought im inclined to go for the third one.
But then i started thinking that the half live engine could be used to host all the games from the tex univerce.
once u have built one game it would be easy to make the same for the other games.

I hope I'm understanding this question correctly. The goal appears to be to remake the original TM games playable on new equipment. The method is to incorporate a modern FPS engine on which the geometry and textures of the TM universe are imported into an existing FPS engine. I am assuming that the FMV files will also be imported into the new game engine (which I'm further assuming can render FMV.)
The developer of such a game transplant would be legally prohibited from distrubuting the game engine (since it is copyrighted elsewhere), but end-users who buy the FPS game from which the game engine is exported could claim fair-use and use the game engine for their own use by importing slightly modified TM files into it.
Is that basically it? If so, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the FPS.
However, having some experience with writing my own code and trying to adapt someone else's, I usually find it easier to build my own. A game engine is little more than 3D navigation and mouse-picking behaviors in a 3D Virtual Universe. These are relatively simple to develop in Java3D or Flash (so I'm told about Flash, though don't have any practical experience with it.) I also know that it's fairly straightforward to import geometries into J3D (and probably Flash). So it's not clear to me that there is an advantage to basing the remake on an existing FPS engine even though I have no objection to it.
On the other hand, if the developer (of the TM remake) has considerable experience with the aforementioned FPS engine and with importing or adapting other geometries into it, then it may indeed be the shortest way to creating a remake for that individual.

I would be willing to buy a piece of sorfware to help generate some life in a remake. They have been doing that with Goldeneye Source for a long time.

Its a HalfLife 2 mod for the original Goldeneye game on the N64. I have seen some pics of it, and it looks pretty good. I think that doing a remake of Tex in a modern day engine would be cool.

Thank you everyone for your responses.
Just to answer a question, the reason I want to use an established engine is because I do not jsut want to make a re-make, I want to be able to add some subtle changes. For example, environemnts that seem more alive. Now, when you are exploring the Ritz, lets have things happen...lets have some scripted sequences happen outside that do not add anything to the story per say, but just make the whole environment more lively. Instead of having paper like people, lets show the characters in the environments looking at you as you enter an environment. Naturally, if possible, I would like to keep the FMV videos...since without them it would just not be TM.
Anyway, thank you all. I am not guaranteeing you will see something right away, but I will start getting the ball rolling on this endeavour. You can expect a posting to show up soon with me asking for help.
BTW, Jim, I do not own a copy of UAKM and I e-mailed you about getting one. Please let me know what I have to do to make this possible.
Thanks,
Kris

If an electronic copy will do you any good, I have an ascii text version and an eBook Reader version that you can download from my home page here:
