So what are you playing right now?
Well, last night i finished Under A Killing Moon again for the first time in several years and had a great time playing it. So right now I'm waiting for a few other classics: Pandora Directive (lost my game a few years back) and Phantasmagoria.
Modern games? Well, I play way to much Sims 2. It's like a drug...
EDIT: Spelling

i've been more addicted to the first sims... I like the free range game-playability better. (You can see my Tex Murphy sim at http://geocities.com/murphymemorial/cope.html)
i've got a friend trying to get me to play guildwars, so that will probably be my next addiction.
ongoing games are: kingdom hearts II, harvest moon, and katamari damancy. i'm currently at the pirates of the carribbean level in kingdom hearts. how cool is that? and i'm sort of stuck in harvest moon because my stupid cow won't hurry up and have a baby so she can go back to giving milk (that's the big moneymaker in the game).

Let's see. Pandora Directive on my old computer, World of Warcraft (i.e. World of WarCrack) on the new computer, Hitman: Blood Money on the PS2 and more Mega Man 2 on the ol' NES than is probably healthy. And a little bit of GTA: Liberty City Stories on the PSP whenever I'm going anywhere, but... that's not too often.
Gee, when I put it like that it sounds like I do nothing but play games...

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
My thoughts on why the Sims 2 is as addicting as it is. One of the reasons has to be the fact that the game is as open as it is and that it never ends. You're free to do just about whatever you want for as long as you want.jcarnby wrote:Why is it that that game is so addicting?
Do you want to play a family that's working itself up in the neighborhood making more and more money? Go ahead.
A disfunctional family where everyone hates one another that would be great on Jerry Springer? Do it!
A Harry Potter or Star Wars-neighborhood with wizards and stormtroopers? Download them and get on with it.

Whenever I get the chance to play any games, I mostly play "The Movies" which is really addictive as well. I can't seem to let go of it
But sometimes when I feel I need a bit of sports I either play Tiger Woods 2006 or Pro Evolution Soccer 5. As for adventures I just finished Agatha Christie: And Then There Were None and I'm now well into The Moment of Silence + I still have Still Life installed on the comp waiting to continue the progress I made there the first time I played it
On the PS2 I tend to play a bit of WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2006, Simpsons Hit'n'Run or Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) - love those games

The Sims 2 is great... one of those games that you can keep coming back to.
My girlfriend and I are currently playing through designing a house (which is probably one of the most enjoyable parts of the game) we have not actually played it... it has exposed me to her neurosis and made me question to concept of ever moving out with her lol! "This carpet does not match the pot plants!"
...we have been designing the house for 4 weeks and have STILL not finished furnishing!
...ahhhh! ...still fun though, all the same.
Oh well, ever since formatting my PC I have not re-installed any games for quite some time, and hence don't play that often. I have the Sims 2 on the notebook to I can take it to her place, but that's it.

Right now I'm playing hide and seek with my wife. While she counts to 100, I'm gonna jump in the car, go to a sports bar and watch World Cup re-runs.
Okay, so that's not exactly true. I'm still trying to finish The Longest Journey. A remarkable game with some pretty decent dialogue, interesting puzzles and an unusual story line. BTW, isn't there supposed to be a sequel? If so, what is it and is it available? Thanks!

The sequel to The Longest Journey is titled Dreamfall. It's been out since April or May, but it's a high-end graphics BEAST! I got it for the PC & had to wait a month for a friend to install a new video card in my computer just to be able to play it.
The ending left me scratching my head a bit as to why they treated the lead characters like they did, but there's probably a good reason for that, like (maybe) another sequel. Definitely the "Empire Strikes Back" of the series.
BTW, I'm currently playing the Movies' Stunts & Effects expansion. I think it may be possible to use it to make new adventures for a certain PI, but maybe with some creative changes (speeder redesign, etc.).

I have been playing Battle for Middle Earth II (PC version) off and on lately. However, the game I have been playing the most is Guild Wars. It's the strangest thing. I have been totally against MMORPGS for a long time. I suppose it is because of the monthly fee on top of having to buy the game for 40ish dollars. Not to mention the potential relationship problems stemming from not spending enough time in the real world with a significant other (In the past, Everquest was mentioned in the news as a reason for several divorces).
A friend of mine introduced me to Guild Wars and, since it didn't have a monthly fee, I figured I'd give it a try. Now I am hooked.
At least I don't have to worry about relationship problems arising from playing MMORPGS like what appeared in the news. My wife and my teenage son play the game now, too. So I can spend some quality time with my wife AND play the game.
AND with no monthly fee, I'll probably be playing Guild Wars for a very long time.

I don't know about your sound card, Jim, but the list of video cards that work with Dreamfall is no joke. If you don't have one that's on the list, you're out of luck without getting a new one.
When I had to replace my video card, I did a search on the forums at Dreamfall.com to try & find what cards were having problems or not. At that time at least, no one had made a complaint about the NVidia GeForce 6200, which is what I later bought, & it worked perfectly. That may be a step backward for you, so I recommend that if your current video card doesn't work for Dreamfall, find a tech support forum where people are posting their problems & look for a video card that no one's fussing about. That's what I did, & I have not regretted it.
