Cancellations are no fun at all.
Hey guys!
Been out and about a lot this year, but Salsa is back! I have a little not so flavorful news though. 10 years ago the Tex Murphy games were cancelled, so I tried to find other venues of entertainment.
One such venue was the television show Stargate SG-1.
The Show has been an awesome ride, but I heard that they are going to cancel after this season... So the moral of the story is:
No Tex = Bad.
No Tex + No Stargate = Finding a new hobby?
Anyway, good to be back.

I've twigged on to Deadwood, m'self. Lovely series. And just because they have swearwords doesn't mean it's bad. It's got a flow of the language like no other series I've ever seen. (Or heard.)
Other series I like include Farscape (ofc!), Sopranos, Firefly (damn shame!), Battlestar Galactica, the Dead Zone and that other one... Dead Like Me!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Thank goodness for Tivo. I have barely turned on the TV all summer. They're all there, waiting for me to watch them, reproachfully.
I'm eagerly waiting for the 2nd season of Rome. I adored 6 feet under (I miss it so much), and I'm with you Fred, I'm a Dead Zone lover. Other shows I'm waiting for is Lost, and one of these days I'll get through all the Nightmares and Dreamscapes. I watched one, (Battleground) and loved it.
I'm sure I'll watch Deadwood in an incredibily long and passionate marathon. That's how I got hooked in 6FU. But waiting so long for each episode...especially after I got burned after Carnivale' ACK!!!
Holy moly, it's almost 2 in the morning.
Night all!

Well you've gotta admit, 10 seasons is a pretty good run. Probably the longest running series I ever got into was Buffy. Other shows that I loved that were was also canned include Angel, Firefly, Tru Calling, Martial Law, She Spies and Dead Like Me.
Currently I've just started watching Battlestar Galactica, and so far I quite like it.

Well with your track record, I'd say stop liking it, because it's my favorite show and I don't want to see it canned.Bren wrote:Currently I've just started watching Battlestar Galactica, and so far I quite like it.

Hear hear, Andy. I haven't seen much of Firefly, but what I saw wasn't quite the caliber of BG. The latter is the best show on TV, and one of the best in TV history because the creators are not content to settle for status quo in TV. I am cheering on the non-episodic movement that concentrates on story archs as opposed to relying on the old reset button at the end of every episode.

I totally agree. I think that the long story archs are more condusive to character development, which is, ultimately, one of the most compelling reasons to watch TV. I think that this iteration of BG has been so much more successful than its predecessor for that very reason. Why watch a show whose outcome is already predetermined? I enjoy episodic TV just as much as everyone else, but I think that the most successful series these days are those which have long archs and more development. Scrubs. BG. The Office. Lost. Desperate Housewives. 24.

I agree Andy and Jerry, the traditional 48 minutes to tie up a plot doesn't cut too well anymore after you've had a taste of the deeper stuff.
Aside from the first season, in which I thought the acting was very weak, Babylon 5 was a very guilty pleasure of mine. They had a lot of story arch's, and some substanital depth to the characters. Xfiles mythology episodes too. Well, as far as x files goes, I loved it all but the last season.
I've seen a few BG's, and really liked them. I'm waiting for a marathon so I can get up to speed before fully embracing it. Might just be something to do during the dark winter months.
