The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it

Source Code - see it. Fantastic movie, great special FX, good acting, enigmatic story line and a mind blowing ending.

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot! Oldschool movie starring Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges. Awesome movie about an ex-bank robber(Eastwood/Thunderbolt) and a drifter/theif (Bridges/Lightfoot). Had some really funny lines but sad ending. Jeff also dresses in drag which is funny and interesting.
Just saw The Hangover 2. It was so much racier than the first one. The only disappointment was that it followed the exact formula as the first movie. All they did was change the location and a couple of small details but other than that, it was the same. Still funny but the same.

I last saw Arrietty by Japanese animators Studio Ghibili (makers of Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and many more classics, I have a lot of them on DVD). It was a retelling of the classic British-originated tale The Borrowers. Interestingly instead of just releasing the American version in the UK as they usually do, they actually got separate voice actors etc. and did a second English version specificially for UK release. It was a very pretty and touching rendition of the story. The music was excellent as well as the animation.

You can listen to the beautiful soundtrack on Youtube:

I watched a good movie her a few days ago, maybe you have allready seen it since its a 2010 release. Its name is Bunraku.

I was really suprised to be frank, the back cover said that it was a western samurai movie with paper cutout backdrop. it started of wierd, and when they started "dancing" i thought, damn this is a musical, but it wasent. the plot was thin but the characters did a solid job. and brought life to it.

the background and locations was what really made me like the movie, it looked so cartoony but at the same time real, kinda like watching a brodway show.

hers the link for the IMDB reviews http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1181795/
watch the trailer.
I saw Mission Impossible: Ghost Recon today. Hate to say it, but it's my least favourite one There were some things in there I liked it, but it's just the least remarkable of the series so far. My biggest gripe is the villain, he's so boring in the sense of lacking any menace, you actually forget about him. I have a few more points, but later on after you've all gone to see it. The strange thing is that it has been getting good reviews, perhaps the best so far for an MI film. Maybe i'm just growing up.
Melancholia. WTF did I just watch? The first few minutes and last few minutes were WOW!, but I'm thinking, it's an hour into this and we are still at this stupid self destructive wedding reception with a mental case? Now I am all about the art house flicks, love em even when there's not a ton going on, but I kept waiting and waiting to like this. All star cast, scifi/ sciencey looking trailer. It looked promising, it disappointed.

Have to say skip this one. I can see how other folks might discuss this as a reflection on the human condition, especially those dealing with the disorder of melancholia. But still...it's the end of the world as we know it, and it's really boring in their little bubble.
TINTIN - SPOILER HEAVY REVIEW AHEAD:

Saw the film today. I liked it a lot but it not without its flaws.

The artistic style mostly worked and there's a very nice nod to the traditional Herge style at the beginning where Tintin is getting a portrait done of himself and is presented with a Herge style painting of himself. That was a terrific fan boy moment There was also another moment like this where they show news clippings of his work on the wall in his apartment such as "Septre Recovered" and "Ear Statue Found" which are obvious references to the likes of King Ottoman's Septre and The Broken Ear. This faithfully conforms to the chronology of Tintin because those named comics do actually take place prior to the current adventure.

But, my biggest gripe was with the story telling. In short, the movie spends too much time telling, re-telling and clarifying basic plot points. In between all of this, while the action is generally good, the hand to hand fist fights are easily more interesting than the action scenes with the big explosions and complex (and humanly impossible) stunt driven fights. For those who don't know the series, The Secret Of The Unicorn actually has a direct sequel named Red Rackham's Treasure which follows directly from the events of this one, but the movie never goes there. The trouble is, had they have just combined the two comics, the movie would have felt a lot more rounded and would have introduced the necessary characters, thus making a really good origin story. In this regard, the movie could have used more detail. But apart from that, a great film, definitely a keeper for the blu-ray release.

4 out of 5
The movie is supposed to be a trilogy.

Peter Jackson is doing the second one, and they are both supposed to direct the 3rd.

At least that was the plan...
There is no mention on imdb at the moment.

Maybe the comic you are referring to will be done in the second film, if it is made.

The last film I saw in theaters was Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows. I liked it more than the first one I must say. However, it's a very close race for those two. I cannot wait till the third one comes out. The last movie I saw at home was The Change Up, with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman. I thought it was pretty damn good. Very funny.

That's what worries me though because the comic, Red Rackham's Treasure, is half the length of ...Unicorn which means they'll end up doing a hybrid story. They sort of attempted this with the current film by having elements of ...Unicorn and The Crab with The Golden Claws. It worked well enough but it skimmed over key plot points and didn't give characters their due exposure.

I'm happy for Jackson and Spielberg to do their own interpretation, but the format would arguably work better by focusing on specific stories and arcs rather than breaking them up and marrying them to other comics. But i'm looking forward to the sequel.

I saw 1408 three times. I absolutely loved it and I think it was infinitely better than The Shining. But I guess that's because I was greatly disappointed by The Shining. The book ruled, but the movie left me cold.

John Cusack's acting in 1408 was phenomenal. The story was very original, and the whole production was magnificently done, IMHO.

Different strokes...

I thought 1408 was insane. Plus anything with John Cusack in it is gold in my opinion. I loved how the room played out messing his mind and just totally engulfing his entire being and sending him on a total mind trip that was out of this world. Great movie....truly awesome.

I loved that movie.

Reminded me a bit of silent hill 4 the room.

Saw Sybil recently.

Old film from the 70s staring salley field.
Very disturbing. Her acting was phenomenal.

It is about a girl who has split personality disorder and her personality has split into 12 different people. Finding out what happened to her towards the end of the film was hard to watch, especially since i now have a baby girl.

Underworld Awakening...

I love this series! I believe its one of the very few good vampire flicks out there and was excited to see this new film. The only real problem I had was the length of the movie which seemed to be cut semi in half. There seemed to be a good new mix of characters but the time was so short they didn't really have that much time to develop relationships good or bad, Selene (Kate's character) is just kind of thrown into this situation so I suppose there wouldn't be that much time to develop any solid relationships. Selene also seems to be much stronger and WAY faster than any of the previous movies which was a definite plus. The action is superb considering the time they had to cram all this into they did quite well. I found myself thinking of the preview of Resident Evil quite often during the movie don't know it that's a good sign or not. I would recommend this movie to anyone who knows the series, wants to see a quick action movie in 3D, loves Kate Beckinsale, or just wants to kill some time and some money. Other than that if you don't know the series, you would probably be disappointed just because of the time frame and for not really knowing the back-round surrounding the characters. I give it a 7/10 overall even though I am a little bias.

On a side note, this movie is way cool on nitrous! Just don't let anyone else know you're doing it or you will get some very weird looks.

Another late observation, I have noticed that in two movies that Kate has done that have 'supposedly' flopped (Whiteout/Underworld 4) that I liked, she has had to stick her hand in a dead body. Am I just a sick person or is this just coincidence?
