Let's talk about a game that's not an adventure game...
Fred, i never played Oblivion but lost a lot of time to Morrowind. As a huge Fallout fan though, i am highly skeptical of what Bethesda will do to the franchise =/

I have to disagree with you there. I think GH3 is theb est so far... actually I think GH2 was terrible, hardly any decent songs! And GH1 was a bit too clunky.Atomicvegetable wrote:
GH3 though seems they have sucked the fun out of the franchise. I reckon it has a little to do with Harmonix no longer being behind it, but yeah, haven't been impressed.

well GH1 had a great song list, but yes... the mechanics weren't refined. GH2 had a lot of gems, they just weren't obvious ones. (YYZ, Jessica, Carry on Wayward Son, Can't you hear me knocking).
GH3 has some really famous songs but i think they've screwed up the note placement. The notes in GH1 and 2 while not always making sense had an element of fun to them, while in GH3 i just felt they threw the fun by the wayside for fast picking and hammer on/pull off sections. I guess that's why i love hard mode on GH1 and 2, but for my favourite songs on GH3, i play medium (mainly so i can sing to them as well)
And i do think this has a lot to due with Harmonix no longer making the series (from everything i've heard from friends, Rock Band is insanely fun to play).

I have to agree with Cub...GH3 is the best by far as far as actually hitting notes. I went back and played GH1 not too long ago and the "controls" were just atrocious...however, I agree with Atomic as far as the set list. The set list from part one is absolutely the best...I love every single song...including all of the bonus tracks. I played 2 a couple of times and the feel just was not there for me..same with rock the 80's...but on 3..I thought they got it right...I just wish the set list was a lot better. I only like one bonus track and that's the Dragonforce song at the end of the game....I just love playing it on expert and seeing what percentage I can get...of course I can only play it on expert in practice mode because I get booed off stage about 2 percent into the song.....lol

What about any of the Spin Offs??? Guitar Hero Encore: Rock The 80s... Guitar Hero Aerosmith... And Guitar Hero: On Tour for DS...
I know there are a few in there but they should come out with a Guitar Hero: Metal Head... There are also several Country songs that have a mean Guitar in them, so they could come out with Guitar Hero: Country Roads, as well...

I'm waiting for Guitar Hero: Metallica....not only would there be tons of greats songs to play, but they would be very challenging and the solos would be insane...

Sadly I have seen more Megadeth Songs on there than I have Metallica Songs...

Missed this post...Atomicvegetable wrote:Fred, i never played Oblivion but lost a lot of time to Morrowind. As a huge Fallout fan though, i am highly skeptical of what Bethesda will do to the franchise =/
I played Oblivion... I HATE role playing games, but loved every minute of Oblivion. Awesome game.

Megadeth is awesome....but Metallica is better. They've got "One" on GH3 and "enter Sandman" on Rock Band...and if you have the XBOX 360 version of Rock Band, you can download a Metallica 3 pack that has For Whom The Bell Tolls, Ride The Lightning and Blackened. The wave of Metallica gaming is coming people...grab your surf boards...

Don't have Xbox... I have Playstation 2, soon to have PS 3 and I have Wii... Not sure if Xbox will every be purchased or not... Trying not to spoil the kids... I think I'm failing horribly in that attempt... lol

I never really got into Metallica. I think 'One', 'Nothing Else Matters', and 'Enter Sandman' are awesome songs, and i really liked what i heard of Re-loaded... but they've never really grabbed me as a band.
I got a best of Megadeth a couple years ago and was blown away.
Tastes in music is an interesting thing, especially tastes in genre. My tastes in metal are varied but i can't really explain why some bands grab me and others don't.
For an idea of where i'm coming from, these are metal bands i really enjoy (some could be argued as rock, but that's splitting hairs
)...
Ozzy Osbourne, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, X Japan, System of a Down, Sevendust, Angra, Dir en Grey, Guns n Roses, hide, Joe Satriani, Powerman 5000, Rammstien and Tenacious D
It'd be interesting to see other people's lists. In my opinion, metal is one of the few genres that still has a lot of soul to it (as so much of music is commercialized these days).
And for an interesting contrast, my favourite band for years (and it still holds a high spot in my favourites) was 'The Presidents of the United States of America'

I know what you mean about bands that just don't quite grab a hold of you...because Rush is one of them. I respect Geddy Lee as an artist because his bass playing is phenomenal, but as a whole, I am just not into Rush. I'm still a firm believer that "Satch" is a wizard and not of this world...hate System and hate Sevendust...Rammstein is just great...Megadeth is a solid Metal/Rock band...although I haven't really gotten into anything of theirs since Youthanasia (Which is in my top ten of great Metal Albums)...GNR is classic...saw Powerman 5000 a few years ago and they were stellar...here's my list of favorite rock/metal bands...
Metallica - #1 obviously..lol - The rest are in no order...
Megadeth, Zeppelin, CCR (more classic rock but still rock), Fear Factory, Godsmack, Alice in chains, Danzig, Seether, Korn, Disturbed...and so on and so on....I could go all day about music...But I listen to everything...not just rock or metal...I have a huge collection of Dance/Techno....Orbital is just amazing to me.
