Aaron Conners on Wikipedia
I doubt much of Wikipedia's page contents was put there by the people the pages describe. Or if they did create a page, for the marketing/advertising exploitation factor, they would probably rely on fans to expand it and make it come alive. Wikipedia is a community-based invention and you can pretty much guarantee that as a result most of the content is going to be put there by fans. Its what Wikipedia is both celebrated for and criticised for, the fact its by the people for the people, rather than a coporate invention. If there isn't much of a fanbase for something then more often than not no page is ever seen for it on Wikipedia or its just a 'stub' (which means very little info available). Knuckles the Echidna therefore has more of a page than Tex Murphy or any of the other Tex Murphy team because lets face it, the Sonic the Hedgehog series has a bigger and more prolific fanbase and the Wikipedia effort demonstrates that. Its just more a thing that web-savvy fans would do.
Anyway most of Wikipedia is made up of info that the celeberities/authors/etc. have already made available elsewhere. And Wikipedia articles can be edited by anyone so anything 'bad' is usually caught by the Wiki police... and they have gotten pretty strict over the years. I think a page for Aaron would just elaborate on his work and achievements etc. There isnt much else info out there anyway to be put on Wikipedia and Wikipedia isnt about assumptions, just facts, hence why theyve pretty much banned adding a lot of purely fan-based stuff. They frown on fan-based assumptions heavily. Even if they someone did it would be a waste of time, the info can and would be taken down off Wikipedia by fans if the person the page described didnt want that info up.
I think Tex could do with more of a page to be honest. I'm just not really a writer and I've been put off Wikipedia a bit by some of the edit dramas/over-policing. Wikipedia are trying to promote the idea they can be a totally valued source of info despite being created and edited by the voluntary community and fans. And some changes are for the better, others are debated sometimes as being too strict.
IMDB is the same sometimes. Although its a little less bloated because aspects require more access (or more money) to go to town with on edits, the number of slipups have it seem unreliable to some.
And personally I think privacy is a very important thing and Googling Aaron's name doesn't turn up as much as I thought it would and thats probably a good thing. Some think it over-paranoid, but I think its very important to be careful about what you put out on the internet.

Thanks for the insight, Sai.
Anyway, I just went ahead and did it. If anyone doesn't like what I wrote, just edit it.

That wasn't so hard, now was it?

LIES! I shall now go edit the pages whilst simultaneously moaning in the Discussions page and replace all the text with descriptions of flying penguins which will be much more factual!
I kid I kid!!
It looks like a really nice start, great job you trendsetter you!

It would seem so. Apparently, AC's article has existed and was deleted before. If the article isn't changed to meet their "notability" standards, it will be deleted in 5 days. BTW... I actually am a bit offended by the assumptions and concerns that I would endanger anyone. What kind Monster/Idiot do you think I am?
EDIT:
What the-- the delete request is gone. And it was there 1 min. ago! Um... thanks mcdonis!Wikipedia wrote:I am removing the delete request because this individual does meet the "notabale" requirement according to Wiki. Under the 3rd option of the "creative proffesionals" item Aaron does qualify as notable. Aaron was the writer of the script for 3 pc game movies and is considered to be a designer of these games. I can understand why some folks might think is a bad idea but really it isnt. All he is doing is giving Aaron credit for what he has done. In many ways its a crime that he DOESNT have a page. Think about it, if you were reading an article in the paper that talked about the history of the Tex series and it didnt mention Aaron woulnt you be a little upset?
I did go in and do some slight changes to the file, if the community doesnt like them feel free to change them. I just thought they might help the file stick around this time.

I kinda think we should let them decide or leave them to it. Ok so we like Tex and they created Tex, but like Jen and TOG say, I'd hate to log on and find a wiki page about me (not least because it would say I'm a no gooder who has never achieved anything).
But I hate googling myself as it is, and I'm sure that Aaron and Chris should at least give a nod before we went and did it without asking them.

Either A - you're a megadeth fan or B - you just got finished playing Guitar Hero 1.

Something you need to keep in mind is Wiki is not a blog or a place where you can express opinion. Its intent is to give unbiased info, such has bio data on people, places, and things. The Tex series is historical as is the folks who created them. Now if it then gave opinion and feelings about them I would totaly agree let them have the say. But this isnt, its dry bio data and really isnt offensive in any way
Yeah it isnt Myspace or any other kind of informal obsessive profile/blog or anything. Wikipedia is just basically IMDB (but with topics outside of movies/games). But IMDB is limited and Wikipedia offers more features and flexibility to give credit where its due. Again there is nothing *to* put on Wikipedia that would go beyond the already made available facts on games news sources etc. anyway. IMDB and Wikipedia just collects the already made available factual info together in one easier to access place. Like I said, Wikipedia doesn't really like anything 'fan-made' opinion to be put up. The articles on Wikipedia have to be unbiased and factual only. They won't even let you link to fansites anymore. They would frown upon the "Unofficial" aspect and you'd have to do convince Wikipedia police that this place is backed by the creators with factual info and not just fan-based creation. I see this site is linked on Tex Murphy's page and thats eoither because it was proven this place is backed by the creators or the Wiki-police havent yet bothered with an article for a lesser known character. But I know a lot of other "Unofficial" sites with tons of factual info get discarded all the time at Wikipedia.
