It appears to be a fairly accurate analysis of the game. However, as a die hard Tex fan I must freely admit I love the game and still play it from time to time.

I guess that's the reason it didn't fare that well: it was good for diehard Tex fans, but to the public in general, not that much.
I for one didn't like it much because of:
1 - bugs
2 - bugs
3 - the hoovering. Oh c'mon! movement with the mouse was the tops, why change?
4 - the story was a remake, I was in need of some fresh villains jeopardizing the world and Tex was the one to save us from eternal hell (yes, I had sake and am on the internet when I should be sleeping tight).

In spite of this, I enjoyed it because it was a Tex adventure. But I'm sure I'd have been disappointed with it (even more, that is) is I wasn't a diehard Tex fan...
