Mel certainly has the energy, he is still working with all the broadway stuff.

I cannot agree. I love Walken and Billy Dee, but they don't have that same quality that I think would make a good Wonka.
Oh I don't mean for an actual recast or anything. That's just something I'd enjoy watching, like an SNL skit or something.

Mel Brooks has always been entertaining in interviews. I'm always brutally amazed how intelligent TV used to be. Watching talk shows from the 50s,60s and 70s is always a glorious treat.

It also makes tv extremely depressing today.

An interview or doing a Voiceover for a cartoon {which is what he has done most lately}, aren't exactly the same as the stressing environment making a movie...

But like I said, Hollywood has Doctors us normal folk don't have and they all seem to live to very ripe ages, unless of course a tragic accident or something occurs... So anything is possible in Hollywood...
