Holy Crap! I had no idea people still loved Tex Murphy...

I think the best comedy episode is yet to come for you Mr Thomas Malloy. Season 5 :D You'll probably know it when you see it (don't wanna spoil anything).

Pretty sure thats what I got, the re-packaged versions (except season 1 since I bought that before they started releasing those here in Europe). The re-packaged versions are very good, the packaging is way more durable and space-saving.
It's just a shame I didn't get Season 1 *after* they started doing that though, otherwise I could of got a free collectors box :( *sigh* Oh well.

Jerry Dan - I'm glad you let me in on that! I've been paying an abhorrent amount of money for each of mine at Media play. You know the list price they had on the website, 74$? No, I was the idiot paying 92 dollars per season. I just splurged one day when I was at Media Play because they actually had Season One on display, and I wanted to grab it before anybody else did. In retrospect I'm glad I did, otherwise I probably never would've become intrested again.

Atomic- I'm about to come up on the fourth season, and already I thought the season two cliffhanger was torture. I *knew* Mulder had to survive the fire bomb because he's around later. That whole Anasanzi, The Blessing Way, and Paper Clip set up the mythology more than any other episodes, I think. So I'm like cringing on what they have coming up for season four.

Sai - Oh boy! I think the comedy episodes are my favorite ones. I can't wait to get to season 5 to see what it is you speak of. Here's a list of some of my favorite episodes with the comedy.
1.) Syzygy - To me the whole arguing episode between Scully and Mulder was just great. "Why do you always have to drive?" "I'm sorry, I didn't know your little feet could reach the pedal" ... and the entire ending where all the guns went off, with the old time music in the background. Great stuff. And then when they're driving off at the end.
Mulder: Scully ... you just ran a stop sign.
Scully: Oh shut up.
Mulder: ... Whatever

2.) Humbug - What can I say, that episode is just great. My favorite part of that is at the end when that one escape artist said "What if everyone in the world grew up to be the same? They'd look like ... (and then he see's Mulder, with his leg up on the porch in his FBI suit looking out in the distance like he's posing for GQ) like that right there."

3.) War of the Coprophages - The episode starts out with an exterminator being taken down by a whole bunch of cockroaches! That was hilarious! And then to top it all off, Scully's comments on the phone to Mulder after he was explaining to his partner about the Department of Agriculture woman he was *working* with ...
Mulder: Well Bambi said that ...
Scully: Her name is Bambi?
Mulder: Her parents were naturalists. *goes on to explain the situation*
Scully: (Pauses) ... Her name is ... Bambi?

And of course the aforementioned Jose Chung episode. I also seen a
"Cops" episode where the whole thing was shown in that style that I liked. But that was on T.V ... There were also a few lines from random episodes that tickled my funny bone ...

(From Fire, First Season)
Mulder: Oh I was just extending her a professional courtesy ...
Scully: Oh, was *that* what you were extending?

(From Genderbender, First Season (Where inexplicably, series regular "Alex Krycheck" is in it, but playing another character .. )

Scully: There is something up there Mulder ... (Speaking of the Kindred's Home)
Mulder: Oh I've been saying that for years ...
(And later ... )

Mulder: The Addams family finds religion ... (On the Amish like Kindred .. )

I could go on for years, but I won't assault your eyes with any more rambling. It's just the X-files has become my new passion the last few months, and I've begun to love it more than anything I've watched series wise.

Sorry to jack the thread, Morley
I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
One of my favorites from Colony:

Scully: "Our friend from the CIA is about as unbelievable as his story. As is everything about this case. I mean, whatever happened to 'Trust no one', Mulder?"
Mulder: "Oh, I changed it to 'Trust everyone'. I didn't tell you?"

Yeah the comedy episodes are great! Out of the ones you listed I think War of the Coprophages is the best, what an ending! "Scully I never thought I'd say this, but, you stink" :D The episodes that are full on comedy are rare but wonderful when they crop up. But I'm glad that each episode usually has a dose of humour thrown in to carry things along and the sarcastic rivalry that the duo of Mulder and Scully has which means they usually throw some funny quips and banter at each other (like with Syzygy as you said) :D I don't think I'd enjoy X-Files so much if that wasn't there because all the deep conspiracy stuff and long goverment discussions in dusty offices would just overwhelm you if a good one-liner weren't dropped in every now and again. :)
I think X-Cops is in a much later season *checks online* Yeah Season 7. It's a very good episode I agree, funny parody and its great that they still string together an intriguing story amongst all the humour. :)

By the way the best forum I've stumbled across so far for The X-Files is this one:
http://community.idealistshaven.com/forums/
Came across it when I was trying to dig up info on why there was two versions of the DVDs (since I was trying to buy Season 2) and the helpful/informed people there told me about the re-packaged deal. You should be able to chat about the show there until the cows come home (and then you can tell the cows to get you some milk before continuing to chat)

SON OF A BISCUIT!!!!
I shelled out the money for all 9 seasons on DVD. They're all in a nice line, Scully side out. Now to know they're coming out at 1/3 rd the price?
BOO!!

Actually, when you think about it, X files is the reason that Season long DVD's came about and became so popular. So when I see Season two of Alf, Good Times, and the 1968 Spiderman cartoons, I think of the brave trail X files blazed.

Big time X files fan here.
You are right, Darin Morgan wrote the BEST stories, I was sad when he left so early.

Best Episodes (IMHO) not ranked in any order.

Small potatoes- From "Luke Skywalker is the father of my baby" To "Mulder" preening in front of the mirror 'F...B...I! You're a damned good looking man', and the ALMOST kiss, wow, I could watch this episode 100 times. Tons of laugh out loud dialogue ah. Ok, I guess that is my favorite one.

Jose Chung in Outer Space. I actually had to take a trip into Vancouver BC to dine at the Ovaltine cafe to have a piece of pie in revenance and homage of this great episode. Actually the place is REALLY small and kind of divey, the miracle of TV. (The Ovalatine showed up again in a Dead Zone episode, which was very cool)

Humbug, not alone in this one. Great story, and I loved the cast of supporting characters, especially the owner of the trailer park hotel, who went onto another great but ill fated show Carnivale.

Home. Creepy, sick, and altogether nasty, it's my favorite guilty pleasure X files episode. The Wonderful World song as they drive out into the night...priceless.

The Post Modern Promethus- I love the episodes when they're not afraid to poke a little fun at themselves. And a Jerry Springer parody to boot? My favorite scene is them dancing at the end. Tugs at the old heart strings.

Yes, I was rooting so hard to them to get together, and then it just went in a direction that made me sad. They should have ended X files at the end of Season 8 with Mulder, Scully and William in a hug. Ah, I such a sucker, I believe I burst into tears at that scene. Then they totally mucked it up in the last season.

I think the Lone Gunmen should have had more time to make episodes. Any episode of Xfiles with the LG in them were a blast to watch. If you don't have that DVD, it is a MUST HAVE if you love X files. It's tons cheaper too.

Great topic!

Well, well, well, Jennifer! Long time no see. Where have you been? Busy at work? Vacation? Or what? Please, check your PM box.

Alex Bark.
I am hooked on the 'Taken' DVD box set at the moment! It is amazing! I watch one episode every night and cannot wait for the next evening when I can watch another.

After I am done though, it is back to the X-Files box sets... just finished Season 4 and now onto Season 5.

And I agree, The Lone Gunmen was a great show... terribly depressing finish though. However that English woman was very... well you know. Meow!
