Frank wrote: The kids will be terribly difficult to pick. Unlike cheap teen shows, you can't possibly cast older actors in younger roles. Age is such an enormous factor in his characters' development, from Danny's pregnancy to Sansa who gets married, and of course Arry and her first kill. Even Jon, I tend to forget, is so young you can't cast anyone over 17 in his role, or you'd end up killing the whole effect of his experiences. Same with Robb, actually.
Well, I may be wrong, but I think they will go for escalating the general age of the character. Example: Jon is 17 and Eddard was 33 (if I'm not mistaken). I think they will go with Jon = 25 and Eddard = 41. I know age is extremely important in Martin's world, but if they maintain a certain balance between the youngsters and the adults, it is going to be equally believable, at least I hope.
Frank wrote:There are other problems left and right in the cast, such as the sheer size of some characters, and the god-like beauty of others. Outside of Danny, who is already a tough call, the other Targaryens in general will be hard to cast, if featured, especially so Rhaegar. Finding someone who outshines and puts to shame the other charismatic characters will be near impossible.
This will undoubtedly be a real nightmare. I can't wait to see the actress chosen for Dany!
Frank wrote:Do you think Varys was one of the two men plotting for Danny's brother to return to Westeros and replace Robert? Or two yet unseen characters?
Yes. I think is Varys is planning for a return of the Dragon! And since I'm a loyal Targaryen fan, I like him!

As mad or crazy as most Targaryens are depicted, you can still count me in amongst the secret loyalists hanging dragon banners and tapestries when no Lannisters or Baratheon are around to see  I became rather sensible to Dorne as well.

How typically Italian of us, to root for the strong, charismatic, ruthless and royal leader :P

About the kids, the thing is, this is the most brutal, and interesting, coming of age stories I've read in possibly forever, so different from the usual stuff we've been plagued with since the 80's (of course, some of them were actually pretty good too), that it'd be a damn shame to level up the average age. We often forget, even in factual period pieces, how young everyone was when they first went to battle, had their first kids or were simply butchered during this time period. Adapting it to our current age reality would be a serious blow, especially so since, for once, we have someone who remained faithful to this reality from the get go.

But hey, I'm still madly excited, I'm ready to forgive a lot!

I thought Andrea was a girl too.

Whoopsy.... I should have known since he was from Italy. I've never heard of any Italian girls being name that now that I think of it.

Your name is pronounced Awn-Drai-yA isn't it? Like the opera singer, Andrea Bocelli?

Just out of curiousity... where in Italy are you from?
and what's your family name?

I KNOW!! I squealed like a little girl when I saw that posted on GRRM live journal page! Sean is a great match for the role. I like the pic of who they picked for Jon also.

Dany is going to be tough, but they've done well so far.
