(Allegedly) really bad movies that only you seem to love
Army of Darkness is wonderfully wonderful. It's odd how pretty much anyone on the internet seems to love it, but no one in the real world will loudly claim it. Campbell should make "direct to Internet" movies.
BTTF 2 is also my favourite. It ridiculed the whole time travel affair in a splendid way and yet made it that much more interesting.
Second vote for Mortal Kombat. The theme song still brings a smile on my face.
Starship Troopers. I know it's nothing like the book, but it's such a strange little thing. The whole movie is obviously anti-army, but most of the cast doesn't seem to be aware of it. They're so cheerful in their pro-war messages that I feel like joining the Space Marines and going off to war each time I see it, and yet I know the whole point of the movie is to be against it. It also features the same dry humor as Robocop, one of my favourite action flicks.

Part-Time Nomad
Lost Boys, a lot of people knock that movie, but I thought it was pretty good... The second one wasn't too bad, but it looked like it was cheaply thrown together...

Mmm, you guys have listed a bunch of movies that I love, but let me list a few that you haven't that I absolutely adore.
Star Wars Episode 1-3 : This series got such a bad rap from the fans, and I just couldn't for the life of me figure out why. They took a bunch of not very well known actors, just like they did before, and did a prequel to lead up to the first three movies and in my opinion it entertained me enough for me to watch all three movies at least once a year. I love the original trilogy too, but I guess what throws me into the minority is the special effects. I'm a stickler for them, and maybe they do not a movie make ... but they do for me.
You say Army of Darkness, I say Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. That movie. Man I couldn't get anyone to watch it with me. Girls would think it was too scary and guys thought it was too stupid. The man saws his own hand off and replaces it with a chainsaw. I mean comon how badass is that? But it's a direct prequel to Army of Darkness, and it still retains a bit of humor, even if it was unintentional as I believe they were going for a scary movie on this one.
Dead Again - The movie nobody ever heard of. It was a great piece about murder, intrigue, past lives, and reincarnation with an excellent cast. It even had Robin Williams in it, and the first words that come out of his mouth in the movie are "fork you, I'm on break." If you've never heard of this movie you owe it to yourself to watch it just once to experience what I call the "tinglely moments". This is when you see something on the screen that makes your head go light headed and you feel that delightful tingle of shock on your spine when something happens on screen, that coupled with the orchestrated score really move you. I have a few select movies that can do that to me, but this one takes the cake with no fewer than 5 of these moments.
Last but not least -
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
I have been told this is absolute drivel. Complete and utter nonsense. And you know ... I can see where people are coming from. But I still watch this movie more than I do any other to this day, with my favorite line being "Ahh Master Payne! It is a great pleasure to have you randomly beating people up in our city!" closely followed by "Weeeeooohhhweeeeioooweeeeeee"
If you don't know the movie I speak of it's probably because you were wise and steered clear of it. It was an old 70's kung fu flick, that was added to with extra video scenes and completely redubbed by one guy (who incidentally is the main character of the story.)
There is even a scene where he dodges milk pellets, matrix style, from a super kung fu cow!

I'm not fat ... I'm festively plump.
It's also got a one-boobed girl in it somewhere. And to this day I can't get that weeeoohweeeoohweeeh sound out of my head.
However I will tell you in no uncertain terms why I hate Star Wars episode 1-3.
Are you ready?
Jar-Jar Binks. That is all.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
While I'll totally agree that his character was muay-muay overplayed, to be honest now comon, he wasn't in the movies hardly at all in some places. His airtime in the clones and revenge was minimal and almost none. He really did the whole thing in for ya to invoke hatred? I think they realized the mistake of trying to make him the comic relief when he wasn't really that funny, and didn't write a lot for him in the last two. He was more like Jackovasaur from South Park, and reminded me a lot of it.

I also enjoyed the Star Wars prequels. For the purposes of the thread though, I wouldn't consider them as alleged bad films. They certainly weren't considered as flops when you compare them to some of the other films mentioned. Plus, the negative fan reaction is just typical. Whenever there's a change, there's bound to be backlash. Just look at the latest Star Trek film. The only crowd complaining is the fanbase, everyone else, including myself (a fan), loved it.
I don't take into account fan reaction when deciding if a film is good or bad. From what I remember, the reviews were warm. Nothing along the lines of "rave", but not overly negative either. Now compare that to Star Trek: Nemesis. That film was a critical, commercial AND fan failure. That's a far cry from the Star Wars prequels.

You know, as far as that goes, I should go ahead and probably disqualify Dead Again from my list, as there was really nothing bad about that movie at all. It's just more of a movie whenever I talk to someone about it, noone ever seen it, so it applies to the "only you seem to love" part.

I had absolutely no problem with SW 1-3, although Binks in the first one did become a little irritating by the end. However, all three were VERY good and three was exceptionally good. But, I suspect the over-all bad reviews led to Lucas' decision to back out of making the final 3 episodes. Too bad! Who can they get to do an admirable job?
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I've liked all the Star Wars movies, I even liked the Animation they did The Clone Wars, even though a few things in the story of that were a bit hard to swallow and accept... My son just loves all the games and the Show they did off the Animation Movie...
Same goes for All of the Star Trek movies, I've enjoyed them all...

Actually, I just thought of another film in my travels: The Flintstones.
I agree that the sequels that spawned from this were barely passable as "B quality". But the first movie, to me, is an overlooked classic. Perfect casting, outstanding set design that should have won an award, great humour to appeal to both adults and children plus a fun story to go with. I'll actually go as far as owing this on Bluray when it's out. I loved this film!

Sequels??? You mean there was more than the one in Rock Vegas???
That first Flintstones was a great movie, so on key with the old cartoon... John Goodman and Rick Moranis were simply terrific, in my opinion... They could have given Moranis a little more padding to round him out a little bit, but as far as the character went, he did an excellent job...
I wish they would have gotten someone else to do Betty, I really can't stand Rosie O'Donnell, but even with her in it was a great film...
The 2nd one I haven't been able to get all the way through it... I can't stand the Baldwin they used and Mark Addy I can take or leave, I don't really find him all that good...
I didn't know there were others, unless that was just a Typo in Joel's post...
