Heavy Rain

My ps3 now has issues, but it looks like a lot of folks have the same issue. Some programming error related to trophy synchronization prevents me from playing the game. *shakes his fist at Sony*

Vracar: That happened to a lot of folks. It should be all fixed now. Was something to do with a leap year programming gaff in older models.

Baf: Talked to Sony today. I'm sending it off again (another month gone. Yee). If it still has the problem when it returns, i'm done with Sony this generation. =/

I think this was finally resolved late last night. (Or, finally resolved itself.) But, what a pain to deal with.
Atom, I'd be pissed too... How old is it??? Maybe you should try and hackle until they just give you a replacement...

I've been waiting for this for some time now. I'll have to get myself a copy this week when I get paid. If it's half as good as it sounds, i'm sure it will be mind blowing.
Baf: It's a slim model. I preordered it a week before they came out, so i've had it since September 09.

September of 09 ain't that long ago, they should just replace it...
But that would be too nice to the consumer so I guess we can forget that solution...
Well, hopefully they get it fixed this time around...

I went to three diffrent retailers today to buy this - all sold out!
Alright! Beat the game! Was awesome! Now to go take a look at how a few scenes could have gone differently...

Played through the second half of the game again and accomplished what I wanted.

Spoilers ahead!

I can't help but notice two plot devices that disappear during the game: Ethan's blackouts and Scotty's asthma. Why did Ethan's blackouts take him to Carnby Street? How did he end up with a dog origami figure? That narrative thread seemed to disappear. Also, Scott never has to deal with his asthma for the rest of the game, no matter how hectic the situation is, no matter if he has to swim from a sunken car. He's still good to go. I only mention these two things because the triptocane was always consistent with Norman, the plot buildup for Ethan's battle against (insert Jigsaw wannabe, except now with a decent motive).

A couple things I want to know more...what is the tripto and it's relationship with Ari. It's obvious the tripto fucks you up, and the endings that I saw display a view of Norman's shades that presents them as hallucinogenic. I wouldn't be surprised if experimental technology had side effects on the brain, along with combining them with mysterious liquid drugs that are inhaled. The story only touches upon these subjects, hinting at them. They're not important to the plot, I admit. Just curious.

Either way, awesome game.

Vracar - your signature - what do the numbers signify? Don't tell me if it's top secret.
"If you look to me for illumination, you better have a flashlight!"
I believe they're a Lost-reference, Jim. That tv-show where some people got stuck on an island, somewhere?

Anyway.

I'll admit that Heavy Rain has some weird plotholes, but also notice they're plotholes you don't really think about until after you've completed the game :D

There was another plothole I wondered about as well, namely:

After Madison survives the encounter at the apartment and has to choose if she wants to call Ethan or Jayden, I realized she'd never met Jayden throughout the game! How the hell did she get his number, much less know how to call him?

So there's that as well.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Fred-I was wondering about that to. I was thinking it might be something I forgot, but it's not.

Jim-The numbers of 4-8-15-16-23-42 are significant to the show Lost. It won one guy his lottery, it's broadcasted on creepy radio waves and it's stamped on a hatch and an airplane. Also, you need it to push a button every 108 minutes to save the world.

Thank you Fred and Vracar for the info. My wife is really a Lost fan. Me? I'm just plain lost.

Alright - last night I beat the game! I agree completely with both of you, Vracar and Fred about the plot holes. I must admit though that I didn't think that much about it when I was actually playing. Although ... :

Maybe Scott's asthma was kind of a cover for him to "stay in character" until the time where it was revealed who he truly was? It's a slim guess I know!

The only way I would think, Madison knew, Norman Jayden had something to do with the case, would be through the media. She's a journalist herself, so maybe she knew from colleagues that he was the lead investigator from the FBI? But then again - how did she know if he could be trusted or not?

Anyway - I'm very interested in a spoiler thread about this game, as I really find this game fantastic and intriguing. That way we don't need to write with black font all the time :)
