It's been awhile since I've watched either version, so I'm not following the line "Han Shot 1st"...

Back in 1997 when the special editions were released, the revised version of A New Hope made alteration to the bar scene. In the original, when confronted by Greedo, Han Solo ends up shooting him before he even has a chance to reach for his weapon. In the revised version, Lucas altered the scene in such a way where Greedo is scene reaching for his weapon and shooting at Han Solo with Han shooting in retailiation rather than offensively.

For various reasons it stirred controversy amongst the fan base due to it not conforming to the true nature of Solo. Furthermore, it's highly unlikely Greedo would have missed at such a close range allowing Han the time to retaliate. Lucas' reasons for this was basically for younger viewers to make it clear to them that he was doing it in self defence, apparently he wasn't comfortable with the idea of children looking to the character as a merciless, apathetic smuggler.

Personally, I do prefer the original construction of the scene with Han shooting first but i'm not so offended that it's lead me not to acknowledge the special editions or at least purchase a copy.

Oh okay, I know the scene rather well... Thanks... Just the words "Han Shoots 1st", I just wasn't putting it together...

Even I say Han shot first. It makes for a way cooler character. Not the same typical hollywoody generic childproof boring horseapples that gets shilled out every month anyway.

I like original characters.
