I met a girl

Thirded.
I met this cute little thing in July 1968 at the place where I worked (I had just gotten out of the Army). Our first date was in mid-August; we were engaged by the end of Sept. and married on Dec. 21, 1968. That was 42+ years ago and we are still going strong. We knew we were right for each other and the rest is history.

So, be a little more patient, learn as much as possible about each other's likes and dislikes, and let nature do the rest. Again, congrats, Freddie me boy!

Every Friday when I hand her my paycheck. j/k

Yes, she does and we both are pleased to be doing so well after 4 decades. WOW! That sounds rather ominous! Four decades! Oh well, we really don't care since we are growing old together.

Odd though. Our biggest fear is 'what happens if one dies'? Neither of us want to be left alone. Very scary.

I suppose that's the price you pay for all those wonderful years of enriching eachother's lives.

You know, actually, I'd like to rephrase. "Price" assumes you have a choice or not of wanting to pay. And in some cases, that's not even a choice - of course you stay with that person until the end.

So no, not a price. But a burden. It's a toss-up who has to carry the burden after the other has departed. But that's truly something one doesn't have to think about until the day comes.

In the mean time, follow the words of Bill & Ted: Be excellent to eachother.

And enjoy the good things that life brings. After all, life is a journey. And it's best to travel along with someone on that particular path. Because going at it alone? That's just half the experience.

Wow! Some interesting philosophy from our resident comedian. Thanks, Fred.

Yes, we have had a very enriching marriage. She gets the "riching" part and I get the "en" - exactly nothing! j/k

I like your timeline, Jim! My parents met in September 36 years ago. My dad asked my mother's father if he could marry her after 2 months, and they were married 6 months later. So, not quite as fast as you.

I met Whitney last April, asked her to marry me in July, and we'll be married one year from our first date this April 29th.

So, Fred, if you know, sometimes you know. My dad always told me it would be that way, and it was that way for me. It was that way for he and for all my brothers.

I'd wait for it to blossom into what it's meant to be, but never be afraid to trust your heart :)

Enjoy! This has been the best year of my life finding Whitney, and I wish you only the same joy!

Good advice, keck. And, congratulations!
Great story, Keck. It seems to run in your family regarding seeing, believing and making it happen with no long delays. And now James is hooked too! What year is this again? Is there something in the world water supply that's contagious?

We took the opposite route.

We were together for 7 years before getting married.

Rocky start, but we worked through everything.
