We would LOVE to make a new version of Leisure Suit Larry!! We thought about making LSL 4 (the missing floppies) or 8, or even 69!! The problem is, Codemasters, the publisher that owns the rights to Leisure Suit Larry and sold them to us wants to see what we can do with the game first. They said if we do a good job at a re-make then we'll have total freedom to do what we want on the next game. So, we have to really kick major ass on this game and show Codemasters what we're capable of. Once we do that, and the game is a success, then we can talk about a new design for our good friend Larry. Trust us, nobody wants to see a newer version of Leisure Suit Larry than us, his biggest fans (yes, we too are fans of Larry Laffer).

From what people are saying new Leisure Suit Larry games is one of the things they're driving for on the horizon. (Edit: oops I was slow).
Anyone played Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist by Al Lowe? Loved that game. Wish it would be released on GOG for more people to experience.

I saw this when looking at the Big Finish Games article on reboots and likewise wondered why they would spend all that money on a scene for scene remake.
Overseer was hugely different in that we got to see Chris and Suzanne and co bring a lot of new life to it, but Sierra's idea seems to be to used cartoons/photos etc, which isn't hugely different. Sure it adds touch screen interface (or the phone and tablet market no doubt) but Tex stands out hugely - we know it's a continuing story so we'll see something new, and we know it will be well scripted.

True, David, but it's been so long since I played it, I'm sure LSL will feel new to me.
I backed it, just to keep the genre alive.

True. I can recall back in the 70s playing a text based game which had the same storyline. I don't know if it had the same name but the script was the same. It was on my Dad's Apple IIe.
Anything that helps overall is good in my books.
