Think we'll make it?
Yeah but Jane's did really struggle to get to their stretch goal of 450k for orchestrated score and more dialogue in the game though
They have, after a period of waiting for PayPal to trickle through to an extra 8k decided to go ahead with the music score. But say doing the extra dialogue might be tight and will have to depend on what they can do after reward costs and budgeting. I hope that we can hit the goal early so the last push will mainly feed into the stretch goal.

I think numbers will go up as more people back it and then their friends will too. The more people that hear about it, the broader the audience.
Also things like famous people backing it will bring a following.
I agree with those here that this project will succeed. I also have nerves (like Joilet Jane) but I know that (1) we are getting more and more backers each day - that is the best thing - making the game for thousands of people rather than a few; (2) worst case, those who have stuck with Tex for all these years will not see it fail.
It's just a case of when it exceeds its target. I hope its sooner rather than later. Seeing it stretch goals would be truly unbelievable for me.

On a certain level, I'm glad people believe this is close, because it motivates them, but it is not. This will make it, it will make it probably about 5 days early, and will probably end off like $550,000 but with good stretch goals, who knows.
People look at what we need as a daily average and stress when we're below for a day (even though we've been over far more often), but this isn't a linear progression. Our funding would have to fall off below like $4,000 a day for this to really be in trouble. Once we hit $400,000 we basically become failure proof, and it would, frankly, be shocking if things fell off so sharply that we couldn't do that.

Made into it's own thread: http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/mess ... f=1&t=3928
The other thing that's very good is that our average pledge has been plummeting this week. The new backers are smaller. This is very good BECAUSE, when things come down to that big push for the goal, there's room for people to raise without the need to depend on new backers.
Honestly, everything has gone pretty much perfectly so far and I see no reason to believe it will not continue to do so.

Actually a PayPal campaign can be opened before the Kickstarter ends and it would be preferable if it does, we just have to reach the goal first! I think if PayPal is opened now whilst the media is reporting and people are pushing the word out passionately then it'll fly (e.g. Larry's 22k, Shadowrun 52,969 and Wasteland 2 $108, 578) but if its opened towards the end or after it'll trickle (Jane's 8k which is still great of course but kept stretch goals tight and one of Tex's stretch goals is a bigger game).Bjyman wrote:The question for me isn't "Will the goal be reached?". Well what did other Kickstarters do? I mean Wasteland 2 had it on their page early and smashed through their goal. They stated what the 900k goal would get but also what going past a million would get and even what going past 1.5 million would get. In the end they got 2.9 million because people knew they had many plans beyond the goal.I'm not expecting millions for Tex (sadly) but if we could get to the 30% stretch goal that would be something. Chris has already been asked in interviews too (RetroNick even *before* the Kickstarter launched) so its no big taboo.joliet_jane wrote:Because it's bad luck or not polite to talk about stretch goals when you still have almost $100,000 to get funded in the first place. (no kidding, that's actually what I think)
I just wonder what if people are only thinking in terms of getting to the goal on June 16th and not beyond. What if they are sitting back right now feeling confident because they figure theres no way it wont squeak up to the goal in this timeframe and they think anything beyond that won't be going into the game (besides subtitles and a few different platforms which not everyone would be interested in, I only need Englsh language and a PC release). What if they knew they'd also get a bigger, longer game with more paths and story, an even higher caliber/execution, "very recognisable names" in the industry etc. What if we'd be smashing our goal quicker if they had that "dangled" infront of them?
I remember one of the first responces to that Amazon.com thread was (and this is even with it being in the FAQ):
So I think stretch goals, including the extra platforms, subtitles and also the extra game content and such for those who are only interested in PC/English would be good to be prevalent and noticeable on the page for those not pledging yet or sitting back because they're only thinking in terms of the goal and not beyond.I'm not backing another game until I see console support. If not a guarantee, at least dangle the possibility in front of me. Looks good though for all you PC gamers!

Yeah... It could be seen both ways maybe but looking at some other Kicksttarters I don't think people ran away in disgust if a Kickstarter starting at 900k told people what 1.5 million could get and it went to 2.9 million. Tex Kickstarter is asking for much much less as a stretch goal and we'd be getting ALOT. I just think unless you were on this forum you wouldn't really know of all their exciting plans beyond the goal. It makes it look like there isnt that much to aim for beyond 450k (unless as I say you need the subtitles or Xbox/tablet). The possibility is that this might make it stagnate a bit in making people think that there is plenty of time to eek out the last 100k without realizing all they'd be missing out on if we don't surpass the goal...
Personally with that knowledge in mind its making me want to push for the goal asap and shoot beyond it. But from discussion on the Kickstarter comments there is not a big interest in going past the goal. If someone mentions concern about pushing to the goal, the replies are talk of how it cant fail to reach the goal by June 16th at this stage but no mention about going beyond that.
