Every once in a while we get a wave like this for no discernible reason. It's just the nature of the beast, I'm afraid.

For the time being, I've disabled new accounts from auto-activating themselves. All newly created accounts will have to go through me until I can get some stronger anti-spam traps set up.

If you're interested, I would be happy to delete obvious posts if you give me just that capability. I have it on another site and have used it a few times. On the site I see a delete button next to the quote button.

Major Kudos for taking care of things... It was horrible just to see, I can't imagine what you all went through to clean 'em up...

after deleting about 40 posts I was saying to my myself "help james help"

On a Drupal website I run, a couple spam accounts sign up every single day, even with a captcha. So I've had to make it so that all accounts must be admin-confirmed before they can post anything.

But there's sooo many. Far more that there were about 2 months ago. What's going on? It was never this bad before.

Most of these post links to websites trying to sell something... So my guess would be that this probably has something to do with it being the Holiday Season... Just guess...

Did some members get wiped out here? I think this site used to have over 1,000 members.
