Been lurking around these boards for years, never really felt inclined to post. But, if you decide to go forward with your remake, you might want to register over on http://www.moddb.com. There's a whole community over there that can help you out with what you are trying to do, with tutorials and everything. Just don't post in the forums asking the people there to do it for you.
