HD/DVD Installer for The Pandora Directive
It seems that some of your AP files from Disc 4 didn't get transferred to your Pandora directory. So, you could re-copy the AP files from Disc 4 to the Pandora directory - that should take care of the "blank (black) screen".

Seems like there are some extra checks in the inventory files. When I will have time I'll look into this, but unfortunately this won't be anytime soon, because I'm rather busy at the moment.
Meanwhile you can just insert the real Disc 4 instead (which is a little bit annoying, I know.
No, this won't solve the problem. All the examining is handled by the EXAM0??.AP files, which are created by the installer. All other files are copied anyway.Nilo wrote: So, you could re-copy the AP files from Disc 4 to the Pandora directory - that should take care of the "blank (black) screen".
That is because you didn't name the DVD correctly. As written in the DVDInfo.txt, you have to call it PANDORA1 (or change some settings).plumgas wrote:I had a similar problem at first it asked for disk 1, so I did the full install version which runs from the hard disk & had no problems.
actually my dvd disk is named Pandora 1 but I am playing the game from the hard disk not the dvd disk.
I noticed that UAKM there is a alternative to use tex197 which is still under dos97 and not dos32 how can I run pandora under dos 97 , Can I use the old tex3.exe file as it won't run with dos32 on my machine unless I use the dos prompt from windows.
please note I am not using dos box on this machine, I use Jeffs multiboot.

I've explained the way they shipped two versions of DOS4GW (NOT DOS32a - which is a different extender altogether) here: http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com/phpb ... .php?t=737
Don't confuse the two brands. DOS4GW was made by Tenberry Software and DOS32a is made by a guy called Narech K. http://dos32a.narechk.net/index_en.html (check back now and then for updates, current version is 9.1.2).

There you have it, why it is not working for you.plumgas wrote:actually my dvd disk is named Pandora 1 but I am playing the game from the hard disk not the dvd disk.
You had to name it PANDORA1 without a space otherwise it is not recognized.
But then you will also loose all the animations from the other discs.i'm_melting_i'm_melting wrote:I find copying all of the *.AP files on disc 4 last solves the problem.
plumgas isn't confusing brands. I exchanged the extender of the main EXE of UAKM with DOS32a, but kept the old one with TEX197.EXE as an alternative.
I did exchange it, because normally it runs faster and better with DOS32a. So no, at the moment there is no alternative file for Pandora Directive.
wintermute,
I uninstalled the full install & installed from the dvd from the setup.exe, which I was not sure if I did that before & the dvd version plays until disk 4. its the examination problem, the item shows in the same box at the side but when you click examine & the large box opens up it asked for disk 4 & also also later on for disk 6. I have gave gone through the whole game files & tried to examine & it seems to start from disk 4 (roswell)
However the hd installer works with no problems. This happened before when I tried copying the ap files to the hard disk before I tried your installer.
This problem does not worry me as I prefer to use the hd installer as the game works faster from the hard disk .

Hi guys, I need help with this. I burnt a DVD with the files created by the installer, but when I start a new game, after the intro cutscene, it asks me to insert CD2
?? I named my DVD PANDORA1 as directed, but it's not working. Wintermute, do you know what is going on ?
Thanks and congratulations on this installer!

Ok, more info. I was able to run using full install on HD. I just finished DAY 4 and so far everything is ok. But, as I mentioned before, DVD mode is not working. The game asks for CD2 just after intro cutscene. Wintermute, can you have a look on this please? Thanks!

This is a strange problem, some other person here reported similar problems.
Do you use the English version of the game? How is your first CD (the original one) called?
So you speak portuguese??
Regarding my game, yeah, I have the english version and my CD 1 is called PANDORA1. That's weird. I named the DVD as PANDORA1 and it's not working, but HD installations works. If I burn a new DVD with the files from the folder where the HD installation is and name it PANDORA1, will it work?
Thanks a lot!

Hm, your problem is really weird. Just right now I have no idea, what it is causing it.
Burning the HD version won't work however!
The game first looks in the game directory for the correct files. Only if it doesn't find them it try to look them up on the CDs (or DVD in this case) and checks if the correct disc is inserted.
This also worked with the original unpatched executable (if you copied the files into the correct directory), but the problem was, that the inventory files on each CD were different but with the same name, which my installer rebuilds.

Well, regarding the game, I guess I know what my problem is. When I installed the DVD version, I overwrited the TEX4.EXE file with the TEX4.EXE from my portuguese version. Yes, I have 2 copies of the game, One has portuguese subtitles, so when I replaced the installations files with the other files from the portuguese version, it won't work. But If I keep the original files, it works. So, is it possible for you to make the installer compatible with the portuguese version? If so, please let me know which files you need, so I can send them to you.
Thanks a lot for you support and best regards!
