Severe withdrawal

There actually is an active site for adventure gamers (yes, I said active). http://www.adventuregamers.com. So, the genre isn't dead?

In a time now shrouded in the mists, in the Long Long Ago, this site was an affilliate of Adventure Gamers. One of the first, in fact. The good folks at AG hit their own sequence of bumps in the road, though, and discontinued their affilliate program, but I still check the AG site at least once a day.
What annoys me is that most of Sam and Max and 2 was finished before it got canned and Lucas Arts still wont release it.
Oh that's a shame... Still I hope this new one will have the same wit and creativity of the original. But yeah Lucasarts really should of used Sam and Max 2 as a comeback to the Adventure gaming scene. Lucasarts adventures were mostly classics, shame they aren't taking an interest anymore.

What I would like to see? What I would TRULY love?

Another Maniac Mansion game.

I'd pay top dollar for that. You hear that LucasfArts? TOP DOLLAH!!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
The Sam & Max game that Lucasarts was making actually had a title called Sam & Max: Freelance Police but as you all know by now, it got canned. A real shame but I still can't wait for the new Sam & Max game from Telltale Games. It looks very promising!

I'm also looking very much forward to see the new Simon The Sorcerer 4. That looks to be a great game with pre-rendered 2D graphics and 3D characters. I just hope they can keep up the wit that Simon had in the first 2 games. I thought he was a bit too rude in the 3rd game, but we'll see soon enough I guess ;)

As for a game I would REALLY much like to see ... Monkey Island 5 ... THAT I would pay top-dollar for!
A new Maniac Mansion would also be great ... I absolutely loved Day Of The Tentacle.
Also ... a new REAL Leisure Suit Larry game would be cool! I thought LSL7: Love for Sail was quite fun to play and I had hoped that they would have made LSL8: Lust in Space which they actually hinted at in LSL7, but that never happened. Instead we got Magna Cum Laude which wasn't exactly what I had hoped for.

Actually in Germany there exits a fan made mini series called Maniac Mansion Mania, which at the moment consists of 54 small episodes divided in 6 seasons made by different authors. You can compare it to the Englisch RON (Reality on the Norm) project.

The quality differs, some episodes are not so good, but some are really excellent, surpassing by far the original in my opinion. Unfortunately most of them are in German only, but some got translated in English.

The Games could be downloaded on this page:

The descriptions themselves are only in German but the little banners at the top of each episode show if they are available in English as well. If you want to switch to another season, just click "Staffel 1-6" at the top.
