Unfortunately not correct. If the DVD version had used Bink, we would not have the codec problems today. ;-)
I think, Bink even didn't exist at that time.


The DVD version uses *surprise* DVD MPEG2 Video ;-) (These are normal VOB files which could be played with every DVD software player.)
Ahhh yes I remember... but anyway, Bink did exist at that time... I remember becuase when I got the game I converted all the Smacker files to Bink (don't ask me what for).

You don't have to rename them.Just drag and drop them into your software DVD player and they work quite well.

And by the way, they are not MPEG files, but MPEG 2 files, for which the correct ending would be VOB.
Windows doesn't care what contents the files have, it just starts the program with the appointed file ending which on your computer is "Media Player 10". But you really don't need this program.

This is true. In fact, one could setup an association so that Windows will automatically open .000 files with your selected player. That would certainly work for browsing the video files, but I wonder if it would work during gameplay...

Or we could all just download VLC Media player and never have to worry about any of that.
