I'd be okay with using real products in the game, but it would have to be natural to the context of the game. Tex smoking a Camel would be one thing, but Tex saying,"Hey Chel, don't you just love Camel Cigarettes? They have such a fine taste and are so smoooth. Camel Cigarettes...they're great," would not be cool.
Anyone get G4 TV? They do a spot called "Morgan's Minute" where one of their personalities, the alternately entertaining and annoying Morgan Webb does minute long monologues, one of which is about in-game advertising, and she raises a good point: if you watch ads, you should get free stuff...
