I'm depressed...

My problem with the endings were that they were too funny. The holo-date thing I couldn't take seriously, neither the cowboy ending with the whip (chelsee looks really stupid in that scene btw :D). The clown ending was too depressing :D. Don't get me wrong though, the whole black sun bit was SHOCKING and the best thing I've ever seen.. truly blew me away. it's just the endings were bad :(

UAKM where the Kernel(Spelling :D) ended up with the girl was pretty stupid too. The whole dance studio thing at least made sense though.

Overseer probably had the best ending... despite being a stupid cliffhanger.
Black Sun Bit?! ~ Whooaaah, back up a minute! What Black Sun bit?! Did I miss out on something?! I though the idea of a black sun disappeared into vagueness and mayan culture...was there more to it?

Black Sun Bit.... (*thinks back carefully*)... was that the holorgraphic meeting with Thomas Malloy where Fitzpatrick work out that the Black Sun symbol represents anti-hydrogen? Or something different, becuase that's the only tim I can remember the Black Sun being mentioned significantly.

The "Black Sun" aspect of the story is a bit vague, but we can suss out a realatively solid explanation if we dig far enough. Fitzpatrick did, indeed, determine that the "Black Sun" symbol represented the anti-hydrogen contained aboard the alien spacecraft. According to the Wikipedia article about the Sun:
Wikipedia wrote:About 74% of the Sun's mass is hydrogen...
...and if we typically think of the Sun as "White" (or, more commonly, "Yellow"...just ask Superman), then an anti-Sun, made of anti-hydrogen, could possibly be construed to be a "Black" Sun.

"A Black Sun Ascending" = the anti-hydrogen ascending up into space aboard the alien craft

That's my theory, at any rate... :)
That's what I thought, too, James. The "black sun" was the anti-hydrogen technology that was destroyed with the ship.

Spot on with my assumptions when I played the game James!

You know, I think I may have said this before, but I think I saved Archie one time total. The rest of the time I purposefully didn't warn him, because I think the scene with him and Jackson Cross is so good, it has to be seen everytime I play through. In my honest opinion, the little part between the two was the most well acted, and directed sequence of the whole game. It still, even to this day, gives me goosebumps watching Cross shoot Archie. Why save him, and miss out on a good scene?!

50 points. That's what you get for saving Archie. 50 points. I can't believe I'm that greedy. Yes, the scene is phenominal and the tension eerie, but I just cannot pass up 50 points. Sheesh!

Now THAT I can understand. Even if the points get you nowhere, and you can't trade them in for cool items or anything, I am also a point hog as of late.

My Xbox gamer score for instance. I know it's not earning me points for anything ... and yet .. I must ... unlock... more ... achievements ...

Ah Jim, I'm surprised! You know that people with the most points (and most toys) still kick the proverbial bucket. I've always considered it to be the richness and emotional impact of the experience. That's why I love these games so much. I can get a book of brainteaser puzzles anywhere, but to live in Tex's world, where just about anything can happen to the characters that we've come to know (and yes love), that's the magic stuff.

Love your post, Jen.

BTW, if memory serves, the original script featured Archie's death. It was later added the possibility to save Archie's life and get 50 more points. However, when on the BOBD path, there is nothing you can do to save Archie's life. But, there is a way to save's Tex's life on that path. You end up getting the clown ending. FYI.

When you first played through the entire game, did anyone else die because their first instinct was to shoot Cross? Boy I thought I'd turned the tables on that creep. Boy was I embarrased.

I knew somethign was up when cross gave Tex the gun... that's why I chose to put it down.

But I tought that if you were on the good thread, when you chose to shoot cross, Malloy stops him before he gets to shoot you promising to take them inside the ship?

Is there a chart anywhere on the net that shows you at exactly which points in the story the decisions you make affect your path?

Is this some kind of like total slam against me, or do you mean Fitzpatrick? If it's the former, then Ha freakin' Ha. If it's the latter, then honestly, I remember trying to shoot cross on every playthrough, and then just reloading, because I like that scene ... but ... I don't remember if it happens on the good thread. I'm almost finished with the good thread doing a playthrough now. I'll let you know.
