I absolutely love the bob style, and it *must* be in black.
Christina Ricci's character, Trixie, in Speed Racer also used the same style to very great effect.

The Difference between Ricci and Blanchett, is that's Ricci's Real Hair, Blanchett used a Wig... So it looks much better on Ricci...

Exactly. I agree that Christina looks terrific with that hair, but that's because it's natural. She's a brunette so all she requires is a haircut, Kate's was an obvious wig, as expressed by Bafitis.

I think it is very rare that you will see an actress' natural hair or hair color. For practical reasons, they often keep their natural hair short to accommodate wigs and to allow them to become different characters on a moment's notice.
I think Ms Ricci's hair is actually light brown, but in Speed Racer it appeared as either dark brown to jet black. My impression is that her's was also a wig, albeit, a nicer-looking wig than Cate's. But Cate's character was supposed to be unlikable, and she was also supposed to reflect our Cold-War stereotype of Russian women lacking in style. (Although I can tell you first hand, Russian women tend to be VERY stylish and beautiful.)
And just to show that you never know what somebody's going to like, I think Cate Blanchett is a little weird looking, but I think she looked most sexy in that weird little wig. There's no accounting for taste.

I do guess it is possible that it was a Wig, but I'm fairly certain that it's her hair, just died a darker shade for the part... You are correct though, in life her hair is a bit lighter, could even be considered a Dark Dirty Blonde...
I think Ricci looks better with the darker color though...

Also they like to be able to go out in public from time to time without being noticed right away... Especially when they normally play light colored hair characters and their hair is really dark or vice virus, they can easily blend in and out if it's a quick trip... Or they'll sport a Red Wig, when they are a Blonde or something like that...
I don't blame them, they deserve some privacy for Pete's Sake... No reason they should be hounded day in and day out...

Hey... I'm thinking of making a
YTMND about The Pandora Directive and how similar it is to this movie. (just for fun, not being critical). Does this PD recap cover all the parallels, or are there more/less?
A mysterious, powerful thing is being looked for by a bunch of people, including a government agent who wants to use it as a weapon
and for some reason require the help of some guy in a fedora to find it
While search for this thing, this guy gets into some cool fights and makes some daring escapes
Eventually the trail leads to Area 51
Because there are aliens involved
who apparently had also landed on earth a long time before that in South America
So he goes to a Mayan temple...
Where he has to make his way through booby traps and puzzles with deadly insects
eventually they find an the alien spaceship in the ruins which
later blows up and The evil bad guys are killed in the explosion as a result of their greed
Oh, and the hero gets his girl too
the end
Of course I'm going to make an animated .gif from screen shots too.

A few observations:
Mac & Cross were both secret intelligence operatives (Cross worked for the National SURVEILLANCE Agency; Mac was formerly MI-6) looking to make a great deal of money, not use something as a weapon.
PD's mothership was in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico; Indy's was in Brazil.
If you paid close attention to Ox after he got his mind back, you'll note that he said the aliens were from another dimension. After the destruction of the temple, he said they were from "the space between spaces". In short, Indy's UFO didn't blow up, it went to a different dimension. However, you could say its vortex was destructive to its surroundings, but again, it was meant to HIDE the fact that the aliens had visited Earth, not to truly destroy anything or anyone. However, given that PD's anti-hydrogen pods were fuel for the propulsion system, you might be able to draw a comparison to the aliens not intending Earth any harm, yet ultimately having a destructive effect.

Ok saw the movie. Here are my thoughts.
- Before I saw the movie I thought the crystal skull was an artifact made from crystal not a real skull.
- I didnt think anything was CGI except the crystal skeletons.
- I thought the gunpowder would be used explosively.
- Since time was not a factor Indy could have done a lot more fighting. And the film have more blood and shooting deaths. I think Henry III stole too much of the show.
- They could have played the gold part up a lot more in the treasure room. Even though the gold was a reference to knowlege. Speaking of gold. I think the Hand of Midas would be awesome for an Indy film.
- I'm disappointed that they didnt make Fate of Atlantis into a movie. I consider it the real Indy 4. Perhaps they could make it a prequel since it took place earlier and this one Indy 5.
- I thought the ants were fire ants. Until I saw how easily they could be squished.
- I guess the reason why we didnt see Nazi's was because they got their butt kicked in the 1940's. But I dont see the door closed for them to come back in a sequel.
- I thought Cate's acting was fine and it was more a protrayal of a Russian stereotype than anything else. Are the Nazi films banned in Germany?
- What is with the fedora blowing in at the wedding. That is not beliveable.
- Oxley getting cleaned up made him not even recognizable at the wedding. LOL
- The previews were awful but I'd say the movie was a 7 or 8
- Marcus kicks butt from the grave! I understand his death because the actor died but its impossible for Indy's dad to be dead. He is immortal because he came in contact with the water of the Holy Grail in the Last Crusade. I sense a government cover up.
- Henry III shouldnt take over until Ford dies. Indy should keep being the main guy in the movies. As far as Henry III being a sidekick in every future film. I'd rather see some fresh sidekicks. And Indy would be protective of his son. He's sending him to finish school. Maybe at Barnett College? And it would be lame if they set up a guy to replace Tex in the next Tex Murphy game.
- Finally do you think Lucas Arts will have enough sense to make this movie into an adventure game or continue with the same old fighting $#it?

Where Henry Jones Sr. is concerned, remember the last thing the knight said was "But the grail cannot pass beyond the great seal, for that is the boundary and the price of immortality." Basically, he said that anyone who wanted to live forever had to make that cavernous place their home, which is why Sr. & Jr. both aged after The Last Crusade.
As for LucasArts making a true adventure game a la Fate of Atlantis, that ain't happenin'. If it were, they wouldn't need the physics engines they're putting into the next game to be so souped up. Expect action & physics like in the upcoming Star Wars: Force unleashed game, really intense stuff.

Exactly... If you remember back to inside the Grail Room, the Knight also told Indy that he had waited there for 700 years for Indy to "
Replace" him... Once they left the cavern the only Good thing that came out of the Grail was that it Healed Henry's Gunshot Wound...

What is with the fedora blowing in at the wedding. That is not beliveable.
I thought that too, when I saw it the first time. But on second viewing, I noticed that the fedora did not blow in from the street. It was on a hat-rack near the door. When the door opened, the wind blew it off the rack.
I guess the reason why we didnt see Nazi's was because they got their butt kicked in the 1940's. But I dont see the door closed for them to come back in a sequel.
Here's another way to get post-war Nazis back into the story: Indiana Jones and the Search for Hitler's Brain.

A tiny announcement, not deserving of its own thread, so I'm posting it here:
I just wanted to say that I just finished playing Pandora a few minutes ago. I ended up on Lombard Street (The clown ending) because I couldn't say no to Regan. Who could?

Thanks for clearing that up Dr. Paul. One mystery solved.
Ok about the grail thing its seems plausible that you only need to drink it once. If you lose the Last Crusade computer game. One of the endings says Hitler located the grail and lived for a long time. I find it hard to believe Hitler would stay confined in a cavern. Then again it would be kind of lame Indy got shot and said "boy that Holy Grail does wonders:.
