Kickstarter

Im sitting here reading norways biggest gaming site (gamer.no) and came across the kickstarter topic. and thers actualy some tex related in there.. il post the link and translate the best i can :P

http://www.gamer.no/artikler/105287/kom ... olusjon/2/

"If Chris Jones and Aaron Conners desides that theyr gonna ask for ouer money to start developing a new Tex Murphy game im inn, but if a random developer asks for money to develp a new gears of war type game il just ignore him.
I think most of us is like that. We are egoists. We want the developers to make the games that we want, and we have really big demands as to what makes us happy. But on the other hand we are many, and if Jones and Conners really whould have funded a Tex Murphy game through kickstart i think im not the onley one that whould run enthusiastically over to the donation button with tears of joy and <take all my money, please!!> written in my face."

The article is about that we would suport the games that we want ("we" mening us, the older kids :P) if you care i could translate more but im at work now so maybe later.

BTW: still remembered by the press ;)

PS. in the little picture on the right it says," i really wanna see this guy again" :D

I think that sums up exactly why most Kickstarter projects by indies are doomed to fail, hence why its a $#it system for indies to be using. If Steam offered it, then you would see a lot more people taking the impulse buy path- which is what we want. Really we should remove all the potential risks involved with this, then the system will be good for Indies.

Right now though, you're seeing games being funded on reputation alone.. and that's a BIG problem- as it means no one new can ever get started.. (which means who the hell is going to replace the bigger guys when they retire?)

So yeah.. But I agree somewhat with what he's said.
