Interwebs & Beyond: Advertising for Tex

Facebook ads? Great idea! :D

I like "C" the best of the options. For an ad that tiny, you need something that is pleasing to the eyeballs-- that means more Tex and less text!

I think I'm going to get an ad on a big message board I go to, and probably one more small print ad. Somewhere.
Great idea redcat and nice previews. I agree with jane in that since the text will already be on the right then the image itself can be without text.

If you want any of the images I made from before without text or cropped down to the appropriate size let me know. Here's a couple I made by cropping stuff from the flyers for example, dunno if they'd be too busy though:

I think a link straight to the Kickstarter page might be best for Facebook but thats just me. I haven't run a campaign via Facebook before but I wonder if some would forget it later and if it'd be better to strike while its hot.

maybe changing "remember tex murphy?" on "who`s tex murphy?" would be more appropriate

I prefer "remember Tex Murphy". The whole "who is..." is a bit cliché, and hence likely to be ignored as part of every other campaign that borrows that same tagline.

"Remember" works, because if you do remember, you will click. If you don't remember, you will wonder why and most likely click to find out. It's especially effective because there are a lot of people who have heard the name but never played the game (rhyme points for me!).

Just my thoughts.

Thanks for the input!

Sai, I really like that 2nd image. Can I get a bigger version and a thumbnail size of that please? Apparently "pretty colors" do well with the Facebook Advertising. (And photos of women, but obviously Tex isn't a woman - LOL.)

I think I will do 2 campaigns. One before May 15th linking to the Tex Murphy page, and another one after the Kickstarter URL is active.

Sure. What dimensions (the height and width in pixels) are needed for the larger version and thumbnail version?

I think whatever the dimensions in your preview of the Ad will be good. And how about a 300 x ??? version.

I figure for the 2nd Kickstarter Ad from May 15th, I'll say something like "Help bring Tex back."

Sai,
Would you be so kind to help with an image for the second Ad I'm going to run on FB when the Kickstarter campaign starts and I can link to their URL? I am nowhere near as talented with graphics as you are. Maybe we can fit a woman or some other "sexy" pic on there? I know it's a small space to work with, but I'd really appreciate it! But from what I've read, ad's with women get paid attention to WAY more often. Hate to stoop to the lowest common denominator, but hey, whatever can get Tex more money!

The first Facebook Ad is going to run 05/04/2012 – 05/14/2012. The 2nd one will start on the 15th. Not sure how long I'll run that one yet.

LOL Joliet_Jane! I was just playing Overseer the other night and was wondering why Tex was wearing such a HUGE, puffy dress shirt. Perhaps it was a 90's thing. Hopefully Tex's wardrobe will be a little more tailored in his new adventure.

Sure, maybe Chelsee or Eddie Ching. Though Chelsee is more likely to appear in a new Tex game. Does anyone have some decent screenshots I can use of them to try?

I do think Tex should still be on there too so will see what I can do to fit things in.

Not coming across too many Chelsee shots besides her news girl ones in my search... pretty wholesome. There's a few of her and Tex kissing, but the lighting is pretty dim. Looks like the ad photo dimensions are 110 x 80.

Tex was doing much better on his Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum cases...

Poor Tex. Retroactive Continuity can be a bitch sometimes!
Ha! Yeah, I did find a few of those shots. I'm sure it'd get clicked, but perhaps won't bring in the money.

Wow, is Regan serious with those socks??
