Do you have a source because I can't find anything in the backer updates I read about the subject. If its said in the blog or in a forum post it would've been nice to have actually received updates on this. A lot of the time I can't check the blogs due to internet difficulties.
But it's true, no publisher would finance it and no publisher has. Atlus is just going to promote it, QA it, get it on Steam and other channels, and help get it reviewed on the major sites.
Given that Atlus went bankrupt I really do question if their involvement in this project was a wise choice on their end. They're not financially capable to do it anyway. They should've been a bit more upfront to BFG. I'm interested to see if BFG actually did know about this when they signed on or if they were mislead into thinking Atlus had the money to do it. I just feel like there was a lack of honesty there. Its good that their still able to provide the services though.

However I'm not happy about Sega seeing profits from it since they weren't the ones taking the risk at the start and far as I'm concerned Sega would never have published an FMV title given their track record with FMV titles. (see the entire back catalog for SegaCD).

It's also possible that there weren't actually a ton of publishers lining up to publish an FMV adventure game and Atlus was by far the biggest name with the best resources willing to cut them a good deal.

You act like they could chose between Atlus and another major-label publisher, but in all likelyhood the other offers were from much smaller publishers who wouldn't have the ability to get this exposed.

I don't think the Sega buyout means that Sega's internal PR or QA teams will be involved, nor indeed anyone in Sega's management. The company simply isn't structured that way right now. But EVEN IF THEY DID, Sega is a big player, and they're still probably better than whatever BFG's alternatives were.

I don't care how pissed you are. Telling them to die, go to hell and drink menses? That was crossing the line.

You made fans of Tex look like any other fanbase on the planet. Shame on you.

OK. "menses" was going too far. I've now removed it.

But I'm still pissed, and just because these forums are rated PG, doesn't mean that I act that way everywhere.

The boards might be PG, but this is one of the few and rare places on the web where people are respectful towards one another because they actually respect each other; not because it's mandatory.

I, too, act differently elsewhere. But not when I'm representing my interest in Tex Murphy or this community. That's the difference.

You're a nice, classy gent.

I'm not. I get angry and I type things. And there's no written Code of Conduct for being a Tex fan that I have to obey.

You are absolutely right. But I'm not trying to make you follow any rules. I'm trying to make you see that your behaviour is unacceptable for an adult human being. I do not refer to your emotions; of being angry at a perceived slight. That's your right. Be as angry as you want. But the way you handled yourself, however, affected both myself and other members of this board negatively. I do not appreciate that, and I wanted you to know it.

Sorry. Can't say it'll never happen again, though.

Even if Atlus says "oh c'mon is was just a joke", I'd be stasified with that. Some acknowledgement would nice.

I'd prefer it if this community didn't have to do PR damage control for itself.
Leave that to Atlus and Sega.

But my opinion of them has been greatly lessened by this stunt. And further more did they get permission from Amazon to use the KS logo? Part of me feels that image could be a good case of Defamation... it definitely feels that way.

Its pretty disgusting.

Kickstarter isn't owned by Amazon. That said, this would likely fall under parody, so I don't think they'd need permission from Kickstarter to use the logo. It's also a Halloween costume this guy created, I don't think individuals need permission to build their own costumes...

Whether it was smart to do, considering they are publishing a Kickstarter-funded game, I'm not sure, but there is a fair bit of truth to it. There have been plenty of stories of cancelled projects, and those that haven't lived up to what was promised, so I think it is a fair point, just possibly a poor platform for it.

That photo probably goes to show that word gets out more than I think. I really don't have all the facts to say anything definitive at this point.
