I think it'd be great to show but I wonder (from interviews) if they've really settled on an engine. But the Kickstarter does say the engine can't do Linux, so I guess they must of decided? Or just all the possible solutions they've loooked at was no Linux?

Chris: At this point, ... we're focused on making the overall experience better. It's part of our process right now. We haven't made the final decision which way we're going to go. but our technology may be integrated with other off the shelf tech.

Even showing what they are aiming at is good enough (with the older games), I think it's important to make clear there is an actual GAME underneath the FMV (and it's not QTE based, or branching storyline).

Also, an AMA might be a good idea too (this helped some other KS projects I believe)

And yes, I just popped over to Gamespot and they seem to be quite a hostile community, the 2 people who registered with a 1-minute difference could have been F5-ing the comments which can explain the proximity...

At least there is one thread with a level 34 member there :P

I think its just a case that we have to accept that not everyone likes every game genre.

Those that are saying negative things list shoot em ups as their favourite games - we won't win them over.

And those that are trying to suggest we're more than one person is funny, frustrating and just taking things off topic.

I can see the point IonusX makes to some extent - the Space Quest thread was bumped by someone three times with no other responses. It looked and felt just like advertising, which is bannable.

I think we just need to say how great Tex is rather than ask people to fund it. If they agree or want to find out more they can, but softly softly is probably the best approach.

Yeah it's quite absurd there, last time I checked I'm sure I wasn't on the development team lol ah well, I might just calm down. I really wanna get this game made, it's just so hard not to be baited by those really paranoid and rude people :(

I know. But I think it's important to:-

Be nice - we will hold the higher ground.
Try and keep it on topic - talking about different accounts detracts from the overall message were trying to give.
I'm tempted to think ignore comments that are off topic, or point them to a forum where those opinions are better discussed.

Remember they are long timers there and we're on their turf. We want them to support us not harm us. It's worth talking about other topics too so they don't feel we are trying to run all over thier site for a week before never going back again. From their point of view theyve had a lot of fans with their own favourite topics suddenly appear. Next week might draw new fans with different projects, so it might be new to us but something they are tiring of.

Perhaps talk about the good things they like in other games too (in other threads)?

Good points Demonlawyer :) I think I'm gonna stick to that then, I might post in a few other sections that pique my interest :)

Guys... youd be happy to know I have been a membmer of the Gamespot forums since 2003! Which precedes ALL of the accounts from those haters.

I have posted a nice little message reminding them the importance of playing nice.

I couldn't just stand by and do nothing.

Enjoy!

also who ever PIGNIN is, epic lol on the EA rant without realizing who Aaron works for :D. I won't be surprised if they did go with Origin. But Its more a matter of that Steam has to hurry up and compete with these guys- we need to ensure EA doesn't try to take over this market. The whole idea was to isolate ourselves from the publishers, not crawl into bed with them.

Ionusx has been saying he will report threads to mods after threads saying he's already emailed them. They will hopefully just hate him spamming them.

He started a topic for the kickstarter debate and it's interesting to see he's not talking about it there anymore.

They were just speaking of this in the Kickstarter comments, too, I think.

ha I posted over there also, but then the thread disappeared so maybe it got deleted.

I did see one of the mention texstarter who posted over there originally before the launch. He didn't delete the post & now has caused all this conflict , when this guy saw more people post about tex he thought it was him again making more phony accounts.

Best thing we can do folks, it just leave them to their own devices. I have done my best to make a few points about exercising common courtesy.... any more fighting and it will hurt the campaign more.

Steam forums seem void of any Tex Kickstarter mention (correct me if my searching abilities suck), so I'll deal with that when I get home from work today.

Also, the XKCD.com has a gaming forum devoid of Tex love, but I was always a lurker on that forum as well so it will be my first post there and that may be shunned upon...
