"Tex Murphy - Project Fedora" is now live on Kickstarter.

Yes, I think it would be a good idea to show a bit of representative game play from the earlier games. I have been waiting for a fan-made promo that properly distills things down to an accurate picture of game play for that reason.
On a related note, although I felt the appropriate geekgasm watching the project's kickoff video, I also found myself afraid that it came off as a little too goofy. I mean, TM games are goofy, and wonderfully so, but that is only one element: the depth of the games lie in their drop-dead seriousness, just as the weight of the humor comes from the contrast to the seriousness and importance of what Tex is doing. Especially given AC and CJ's recent comments about this installment being more "gritty" than the others, I think they should try appealing to the demographic that, like me, wouldn't be interested in merely a silly FMV screwball comedy mystery.

I cannot tell you the hours I spent deciding to choose A, B or C! I didn't really occur to me that I could just save and try the different answers. I took those conversation options way too seriously.Sai wrote: Exactly! These really need to be in a video. I love that Tex has something to say (often funny or enlightening) about everything, very reminscent of past adventure games from Lucasarts or Sierra and entertaining. And the dialogue choice was great too.

You hit the nail on the head Jerry! I agree. I love the pitch and its made some who havent seen Tex Murphy before donate. However it pains me to say it but I have read feedback on the pitch video from those who have no experence of Tex Murphy and they are assuming the new game will be full of overdone acting (due to the new footage focusing on the intentionally over-the-top celebrity cameos but some are wondering how intentional it is based on past FMV games they've seen). They've asked if the style of the new game will be overdone / campy and in responce people (based only on UAKM) are saying it will probably have a comedy B-Movie aspect to it.
UAKm is great and many peoples favourite, but it is a little bit dated compared to Pandora Directive, Chris Jones was just starting to get into the role and it was done without Adrian Carr on board so I don't think its a good example of what the acting will be like in the new game. I *do* want humour in the new game, I don't want it to be over-serious and boring. But I am sure that people are mistaken in that the new game will be focused on goofy humour as in the pitch. The new game will have mystery but not Scooby Doo mystery.
I think that there needs to be a video thats more like a commentary on how the games progressed in terms of cinematic quality and range. And how they feel what they have to bring to the table could change attitudes to FMV games in ths respect.
I made a post about this earlier:

That's an idea. I wonder if Aaron decided to do it just as a video blog because they don't have a load of clips on hand to use. They are using Cubase's video so it seems they're not opposed to using fan promos if done well. I do think Chris or Aaron commentating would be more cinvincing to people though than a fan, maybe they just need the right clips first.I have been waiting for a fan-made promo that properly distills things down to an accurate picture of game play for that reason.

I messaged the BF people yo suggest the above, and here was the response:
Hi Steve,
Thanks for your feedback. We hope to release more videos soon that discuss the upcoming story in "Project Fedora" and we hope that people will find it compelling and intriguing.
Thank you on behalf of Big Finish Games!

Here is my response:
If a fan does a 'best of' compilation he can actually just implement this as part of the YouTube video...
I'm not sure whoever got my message got the gist of the idea... but I'm hoping.Hi sbenrap,
Thanks for your continued feedback! A youtube mini-series is a great idea, we'll pass the idea on to our engineers and see what they can come up with!
Thank you for your support on behalf of Big Finish Games!

Awesome Jerry Dan! I look forward to it
sbenrap sounds good. I've been thinking more and maybe a well-done fan promo would in fact be better than commentary from the developers as perhaps its the gamer who'd best describe the experience of playing the game.

But I don't have the tools or skills etc. to record and put stuf together. So I'll just have to hope someone has the ability to do it or better yet could work with their engineers (that would be awesome).

I also thought back to James' great testimonial. When I watched it I felt it was a good introduction to what made the gameplay unique for those unfamiliar with Tex Murphy.2004 UTM Chat wrote: [Cubase] Personally though, the Roswell part of Pandora really left a lasting impression on my fears of the dark.... have you even gotten the chance to play back your own creations... and do you get the same feeling?
[Aaron Conners] We try to be as objective as possible, but it's very difficult to feel fear with your own creation. It's easy to see how it would creep people out, however, and we're very happy about that!

So on the other side of the discussion regarding the pitch video maybe being misconstrued by some (regarding the comedy acting):
Yay!I've never played any of these, but holy $#it, Michael York was in one of them? The clips of them look fantastic. Can't wait to play a new one.
