Future of Tex (possibilities)

lotus_j wrote:You had a meeting with Tim this past weekend? Really? I some how doubt he had a meeting with someone with such low reading comprehension skills. I assume you meant the President, because you didn't have a meeting with THQ. No one who had a meeting with someone like that would be advertising it on the internet anonymously. It's dumb.
The CEO of Big Huge Games is Brian Reynolds and I happen to be friends with him and his wife Jill... Just because I said I had a Meeting doesn't mean it had to do with the Computer Gaming Industry, that's not my field... And there is nothing wrong with me stating that I had a lunch meeting with someone...
It's not really any different than you claiming to over hear Sony's VP complain all the time about this or that...
And by the way, I have met Tim Train... Kind of an Up Tight, Know It All, if you ask me...

There is nothing wrong with my reading skills... First you told me that you had a Strong Understanding of a Game with No Information having been released... Then you told Jen that you didn't know anything about TCM... Sounds to me like you are confused... And you can choose to say that I'm not reading the posts, but I'm reading them just as clearly as anyone else... Try wording yourself a bit differently so you don't confuse yourself so much...
You remind me of the neighborhood kid who cried wolf... You lie so much that you start to believe yourself and you don't know where to stop... So before you know it you are over your head, but are too scared to come clean...

You are a very Defensive person...
lotus_j wrote:If that was the case they'd have had financing for their game long ago and we'd have had Tex games in the last 10 years. Having name recognition doesn't mean they don't have to go rub elbows or sell a project.
You clearly know so much more than Aaron and Chris, so why don't you go ahead and make your pitch for a New Tex game and then you can be the Writer of the New Tex Murphy Adventure... After all that's what you claim you do... So it should be a piece of cake for you, right??? You have all these friends in high places as well... Should be a walk in the park for you to get a Tex Murphy game off the ground and into production...
After all AC is clearly doing it all wrong and it is SOOO Easy to produce, develop, and market a Tex Murphy Game...
Go ahead... We'll wait... After all you'll have approval by the end of the week, right???
So, we'll wait... Should be ready for stores by the fall or early winter, which would you say???

The fact of the matter is, if you took a few minutes to go through some of the older threads on this Message Board, you'd find from Aaron's own words the reasons for hold ups in the Tex Series...
lotus_j wrote:I think the 8 KQ games combined did millions but KQ2 didn't do a million copies when released in 1984.
It was released in 1985... And then re-released in 1987... For God's Sake PLEASE Have your facts straight if you are going to try and Tear Someone Down...
Also there were 9 games in the King's Quest Collection... Just to make sure you have your Info correct... And Roberta Williams would like to make another King's Quest Adventure, but sales from that last one didn't warrant her a budget in which to do so... But she is working on a Storyline for a final King's Quest, in hopes that in the future she can convince the board to produce it...

lotus_j wrote:Sure there are Adventure Games still on the PC market. They don't do great, but they're there. However, the people who used to be considered the genre's best aren't making them anymore. Lucas Arts hasn't made an Adventure game since 2001. Sierra hasn't made one since 98 or 99. EA doesn't make any. Access Software is dead. The companies that do make the games today don't push envelopes or anything.
I really wish Von Glower would show up... There are Plenty of Adventure Games on the Market and there are several that are doing quite well... Von Glower is our Expert when it comes to Adventure Games...
Naturally they aren't doing as well as they did 10 years ago and there is reason for that...
The sad fact of the matter is Adventure Games don't come from the USA any more... Places like Germany are taking the lead in the Adventure games... USA Game Leaders care more about Blow It Up and Run stuff... And with today's Generation that is what they want... Kids, Teenagers and people in their early 20s {generally speaking of course}, don't want to Think or Solve Puzzles... They want to Blow Things Up and Kill Things...
If you knew 10% of the people you claim to know, you would have known that already though...
lotus_j wrote:Did Aaron write Mean Streets or Martian Memorandum? What? He didn't? Wow. He shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near the series by your logic.
Uhmmm, Yeah I Believe He Did... AC is the Biggest Contributor behind all 5 of the Tex Murphy Adventures... And whoever decided to Produce/Fund the next game in the series would be foolish to try and do it with a fresh writer...
Aaron Connors and Chris Jones are the Creators of Tex Murphy... But since they worked underneath Access Software when Tex Murphy was Created, they don't own the Copyrights, Access Software did and then it got shipped around like a Issue of Playbub...
You are starting to show your ignorance of the topic at hand...
lotus_j wrote:Right you're guessing. From all I've heard/read about AC and the future of this series is that he'd do just about anything if given the opportunity. The sad fact is though that if a game gets made the company owning the rights doesn't have to call them up and ask for permission. The rights are theirs to do with as they please.
And as Jen as already stated and I agree fully with her, they'd be stupid to do anything of the sort without AC and the rest of the Originals... The Soul behind the game is what has made it Immortal to all of us who gather at websites like this, years after the games were made... Without Aaron or Chris there would be no Soul or Heart in the production...
You're right, I am guessing... But at least my guessing is more level headed than your guessing... If a company, be it 2K Games or any other tried to bring Tex Murphy back without AC or CJ, they would be throwing money out the window, because it would bomb, big time...

I've not even read the last two posts, I think I'll wait for the movie.

Can't we all draw a line in the sand and move on? Though I guess if we all drew a line in the sand there'd be lots of lines being crossed (I can see a great big game of tic tac toe coming here...)

I agree with you Demon... Besides no sense in arguing with someone who doesn't know sh;t from shinola or his ass from a hole in the ground...

lotus_j wrote:Also I'm rather positive he doesn't want you posting online for anyone to read that he has lunch with you.
I will however add one thing, since Brian and Jill Are friends of mine... Just because you can read something on a web page doesn't make you the king of knowledge... I'm well aware of what Brian does and Saying I had lunch with them like I do at least once a month isn't going to hurt either of their feelings...
It amazes me how Positive you can be about things you know nothing about and about people you don't even know...

You can take your high horse and do whatever you want with it... Your lack of understanding is so clear that you aren't even worth the time...

By the way, don't let your Subscription to Game Informer Magazine Expire, it has clearly done it's job in keeping you informed of the industry's progress... Because without it, you'd be very lost...

Brian has been CEO for 8 years...

And who has said anything about Wikipedia??? I haven't said anything about Wikipedia, so quit making an ass out of yourself by assuming things... You bring Wikipedia up an awful lot...
Must be your main source of information, but then you choose to change a few things and then say that the entries in Wikipedia are wrong and you know so much more than Wikipedia, when the only person mentioning Wikipedia is You... So Give It Already...
Because whatever you are trying to prove you are failing miserably at it...

This thread is going down the toilet faster than the speed of light. All in favor of ending this nonsense give me an "Amen!"

THQ bought BHG. Since then his title has been "Creative Director." Still we get the point you think he doesn't care that you drop his name despite your behavior.

As to the rest of your drivel: Either back up your claims of calling me a liar with links or move on.
Jim the old guy wrote:This thread is going down the toilet faster than the speed of light. All in favor of ending this nonsense give me an "Amen!"
Sorry, but the guy called me a liar and has done nothing to prove his stance. I find it interesting that no one has come to his defense but people have rightfully noticed that this thread is being hijacked. For that I apologize, and I've cleaned up the thread as much as I could.
lotus_j wrote:I find it interesting that no one has come to his defense but people have rightfully noticed that this thread is being hijacked.
I don't need anyone to come to my Defense...
That isn't how this Community Works, but maybe if you had tested the waters instead of shouting from the mountain top that the Creators of Tex Murphy are doing things all wrong, then maybe you would have noticed that...

I haven't noticed anyone rallying to your favor either...
Like I said, that isn't how it works here... If two people get into a Heated Debate then the rest of Community steps back and lets them go... No one takes sides... As for proving anything, I don't need to prove anything... I don't see you proving anything either...

I don't need to prove who my close friends are... And I don't need to think about him caring about his name, I use his name, he uses mine, no biggie as far as either of us are concerned... I'm not making any speeches on his behalf or stating any opinions for him...
As for you, you only know what you read, if you knew anyone on a personal level you'd know better... So I hold no ill will against you for your ignorance on the matter...

Now you can say what you please in return, but I won't be returning to this thread... As Jim said it is no longer what it was originally intended for... James might as well lock it down and start us a new one... So I Second My AMEN and leave it at that...
Good Day...
