Interwebs & Beyond: Advertising for Tex
Ok, I got impatient and started one of my Facebook ads this morning! It's been running 20 mins and has gotten 8 clicks, and 28,603 impressions. This was my cheapest budget one. But at least 28K people have seen it so far! I'm going to see if I should increase the dollars on this one once I get some more data...
Oh, and please "Like" the ad if you see it. Hopefully that will make it more likely to be shown.

Since this first one was a really small budget it has probably run its course for the day. (They try to spread your budget out over the date range your ad is running.) I doubt I can explain all the ins and outs as I haven't scratched the surface of how FB advertising works! But from the first day's analytics I expect this first ad should be seen by 25-30,000 people each day for the next 14 days. And it is targeted to people who it will be interesting to (Such as, Gamers, people interested in Sci-Fi/Mystery/Adventure/Jazz/etc. which is 159,586,200 people in 25 countries!) And that target audience probably depends how private you are on Facebook. For instance if you don't "Like" anything or list any of your interests on FB you might not see any kind of targeted advertising.
My next two ads (One of those two starts Saturday - so two ads will be running until the 14th of May) have a bit of a higher budget so it should be visible to (I'm guesstimating) 100,000 a day for 14-16 days. My last ad is just a little less $ than the middle two, so I guess 50-60K views a day perhaps. I am paying per 1,000 "impressions" which Facebook calls CPM (cost per thousand.) I was actually surprised I got clicks at all. So that was good news! Regardless, I hope my tiny campaign will get the word out to at least tens of thousands of people who might not be aware of Project Fedora.
I don't think there's any good way to share them besides clicking "Like" it if you ever see it! I could just take a screen shot from my advertising screen of the different Ads and post it to Big Finish or the Tex Murphy FB pages. Although, I was kind of hoping someone would stumble across it on their own. I imagine you probably need a budget in the thousands to reach everyone.

I PM'd you Joliet_Jane.
1st Ad's is about a day and a half old, and it shows it's had 84,490 "impressions." 16 clicks so far. I am pleased with the results so far! 2nd Ad breaks tomorrow. And I did a small Google ad as well which is waiting approval from Google, but hopefully that will go into rotation in the next day or two.

Do you know of any local or national tv shows/stations that might be interested in mentioning the story, even if it is only in blog form on their site? There are a few shows that dabble in either gaming or sci-fi out there.
I'm trying to call in a favor from a friend over at the Space Channel and their InnerSpace show. We'll see if this gets anywhere.
I'm also trying to get in touch with the host who actually introduced me to Pandora Directive in 96. He's still a tv host on a french-canadian equivalent of MTV, but he no longer covers games.
