The last film you´ve seen and your thoughts about it
You saw them as aliens. Some people saw them as angels. It was hard to tell the difference, and that made me annoyed as all hell.

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
I don't think Angels would have needed to use Spaceships... lol
Also you could see the Traditional Alien shape when they started to dematerialize... Their heads went into the egged shape that is so common with alien description...

Just got back from seeing The Little Fockers... Definitely not as good as the first 2 movies, but still good for some laughs... I don't think I would spend Theater money on this movie, wait for it on Rental and if money is tight for you, just wait for it to come out on TV... It's worth waiting for, nothing to rush to the theater for...
As for Knowing, Lestat, what was your impression of the ending??? Did you think they were Angels or Aliens???
Yes Inception was an Exceptional movie... I'm not a fan of DiCaprio, but I give him credit, his last few movies have been pretty good... In fact I have Inception on Netflix right now, I'll probably watch it again tonight... I saw it twice at the Drive-In, so Hi-Def should be a nice treat to that movie...

It was aliens.... I have no idea how anyone could get angels from that.
Yes it showed the tree of knowledge at the end and kind of an adam and eve thing, but what I think they were trying to get at was that Aliens are God. Maybe the aliens are angels... by any rate.... It was obvious to me they were aliens.

There is a whole series on the History Channel called Ancient Aliens, goes into detailed research and interviews with people who believe we were visited at the dawn of mankind... Very good show, they just concluded their 2nd season a couple weeks ago... I've enjoyed the show very much...
They go on about how man believed they were gods because they came down from the heavens and possessed great power and whatnot, while others believe that we exist because of them, they genetically engineered us to be their slaves to mine minerals for them... So they took the monkeys that we once were and changed it enough to make humans, and that is why we can't find the missing link, because there isn't one... We were rushed through evolution, what normally takes millions of years seems to have been done in just a few thousand years, according to some scientists...
Like I said very interesting show to watch...
I highly recommend it if anyone is interested in such things... I'm not sure if you can view it online or not... Netflix has a couple of DVDs titled Ancient Aliens, but I don't think they have the entire seasons available...
It's a 3 Disc set and it looks like you can get it on eBay between 10 and 20 bucks... Definitely a fair price if you ask me... Hopefully they do a 3rd season...
Caught Blade Runner on TV tonight, awesome movie, as most of you know and those who don't I highly recommend it...
Clash Of The Titans {the new one}, premiered on TV tonight as well... I saw this at the Drive-In last summer, still a good movie...

Spoiler Alert: Please don't read if you haven't seen Toy Story 3
Might be a bit late, but on December 10th, I watched Pixar's Up followed by Toy Story 3, It was my first time seeing both. And I'd just like to say, that It was the first time I'd ever cried from a movie. Up's opening scenes were beautiful, the rest of the movie was pretty good, and the ending was happy, my eyes sort of watered at the scene depicting their marriage over the years, but i didn't cry in that movie, I cried in Toy Story 3. Oh man, Toy Story 3. This movie, i don't even know what to say. When I first heard of Toy Story 3, I thought, oh no, not another sequel. I loved Toy Story when I was younger, I got it on VHS and it was my favorite movie, I even had the toys from it. Toy Story 2 was an interesting experience, overall better than many movies, but I felt that the first was better and that the sequel wasn't necessary. But grew to love it, the scene about Jessie and her girl Emily, was dipping into some good material, that scene always stood out to me. The first trailer I saw for Toy Story 3 left me worried, I was confident though in Pixar's ability to make exceptionally good movies. I wanted to see it in Theaters but never got the chance, but boy I'm glad I waited. I still had yet to watch Up and I wanted to see that first, so when I had a dvd copy in my hand of Toy Story 3 I decided I finally had to watch Up, so I pulled out my old little 13" white VHS tv, and put Up into my PS2 and laid down on the floor with a blanket to watch. Then I popped Toy Story 3 in and let the nostalgia, memories, and characters personalities wash over me, I was there in the movie for 103 minutes. I thought it was brilliant, and was much better than I'd thought. the scene with lots-o the bear and his "villain origin story" was an interesting dynamic, similiar to the Jessie's old owner scene in Toy Story 2. I cried at the scene at the end, when Andy was giving his toys to the little girl, Bonnie, He picked up each toy and described them and then played with them all one last time, which was so touching since the throughout the whole movie I remembered the part where he described the toys as junk, and that no one would want them. That was the last thing he'd said to them before that scene, and they thought that he didn't like them. But I don't know, the perfect lush green lawn and the shade, it reminded me of how laid back, peaceful, and care free I used to be, and how my imagination used to take me on great adventures. The end of Andy's (or my) childhood, and the toys would be a special part of Bonnie's life too. it was just an amazing and entertaining ending to the trilogy, and I think it is probably the best part 3 of any trilogy ever. Though I still think Empire Strikes back is the best sequel.
(the solution for what happened to Lots-O was very clever, and made me laugh, I always see the local garbage trucks here with stuffed animals on them, not sure if everyone got that though/ since maybe not all garbage men do that around the world)
The short that came with it, Day and Night was very good. I can't believe how clever these people are, how they come up with these ideas amazes me.
My second time watching Toy Story 3 was even worse I was watching this time with my parents, and instead of waiting until the end to weep, I burst into tears at the very opening scene depicting Andy as a child in the home videos. To make matters worse I found out that my parents didn't cry at all during the film, I loved crying during the film though, I hope that more movies could make me do that.

I am a little behind on my movie Reviews..... here we go.
Harry Potter Deathly Hallows part 1
Great film. Ending was really sad. You could really tell that this was part 1 of a larger story.
I am just wondering how they are going to end the whole series in the next movie because there still seems to be a lot that needs to be resolved. I haven't read the book, so I don't know. Overall, it was entertaining and very dark.
Pineapple Express
Very dumb, but hilarious. This movie would probably only be funny to people that have smoked a lot of marijuana at some point in their life. I personally liked Red, the guy who wouldn't die. Saul was really funny too. He reminded me of me back in the day...... Yes... I used to be that dumb in my heyday.
Grown Ups
Grandma was the star of the movie. Not the funniest Adam Sandler movie out there. It was ok, i guess. The humour with the daughters though was over played and got stale really fast. Grandma and ugly daughter as well as Rob Schneider were great. So was Kevin James, but I have always found him funny.
Hush.
Terrible made for TV movie with Tori Spelling. Acting was over acted or underacted. And the story was just unrealistic. What happened to made for tv movies..... They used to be good a long time ago. Now they suck. Don't waste your time on this film. There are plenty of bigger budget movies that do this story way better. Fatal attraction and unfaithful come to mind.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
This movie as a movie itself was really good. As a book adaptation, I feel they took way too many liberties with the story. I understand they can't be an exact match, but to just make up stuff that isn't necessary is going to far. At least the Christian themes were a little more apparent in this one than the last 2, but I still think they should have had Aslan change from a lamb to a lion at the end to make it more apparent. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed the film, but only when I didn't compare it to the book. This was the weakest of the 3, but still good and I am looking forward to The Silver Chair.
Phew, I am surprised I remembered them all.

1. Hitman with Timothy Olyphant. Saw it on FX last night. I really liked this movie and tho Tim at times seemed a bit stiff, his character was very interesting. Good assasignation type movie.
2. The Day the Earth Stood Still with Michael Rennie. This was on AMC last night and was worth watching for the umpteenth time. What a great movie. I think it was extremely well made considering the special effects in 1951 were seriously lacking.
I'm with you, lestat, regarding the third Narnia movie. Very exciting, good special F/X, a lot of fun for people of all ages, and I too look forward to the next in the series. Also, I agree with your assessment of the movie compared to the book. BIG difference. Even more so in this one that in the previous two. Still, I highly recommend it for its moral and entertaining benefits.

Ok, so I just saw the Documentary Zeitgeist Moving Forward.
This feels like one of the most important documentaries in recent history.
It talks about Human Nature and how we are not bound by our genetics, then it talks about the economic and monetary system and how it is unsustainable, it then talks about a solution via the venus project, and then talks about rising up and taking our society back.
It takes every argument thrown at the last film and completely smashes them to bits.
It is one of those films you have to see for yourself.
It has broken records already as being the most widely screened independent film.
It will be available for free on January 25th, for your downloading/viewing pleasure.

Congrats Jen for the 1,000th post in this thread...
Just say "Catch Me If You Can"... I know it has been out a while now, I just never got around to watching it... Haven't really cared for Leo until his last couple of movies... I just don't think he has much depth... It also has Tom Hanks, so a big plus for it there... It also has Christopher Walken, and I'm a huge fan of his...
Not a bad movie really... Nothing I would go out of my way to see, but I'll throw it on if I'm looking for something and see that it is on...
It's basically about a family who makes their living as Con Artists and it gets pasted down from father to son and he continues on making up schemes as he goes...

I finally checked out Easy Rider last night on the ABC. Absolute tosh in my opinion. While it has one of the best soundtracks i've heard (aside from Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction) and the scenery shots were pretty impressive, the rest of it just seemed to be an excuse to get stoned. I have no idea why this has has been submitted to the Library of Congress National Registry. For a film to be of that calibre, you'd expect it to be something like Citizen Kane, The Godfather, Star Wars: A New Hope and Goodfellas. A completely underwhelming 90 minutes.
But the film just suffered from it's own pre-destined anti-corporate agenda. In fact, it the anti-establishment politics behind it was so hostile it just came off as ignorant and pessimistic. There's more to America than that.
In fact, i'd go as far as saying that this video sums up American life in 1969 better than any 30 seconds of Easy Rider:

Catch Me if You Can was based on a true story which is, in itself, a remarkable saga. I thought the movie was very well done and deserved the 3 out of 4 stars it received. Yrah, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it, but it still ranked fairly high in my personal movie guide.
Joel, next time don't hold back. j/k I lived through that generation and was never impressed with the whole drugs, love, peace thing (oh, the love part was acceptable
). I wasn't a warmonger but I had just exited from active duty and in spite of my disgust with the Viet Nam War I still felt people should do their duty. Ergo, my disgust with the so-called peace movement. When I first saw Easy Rider I felt much the way you did, Joel. I was then and am now not that impressed with the movie. Was it a good movie? Millions thought so. Was it well acted? It seems that way. Did it deserve 4 stars? Somebody said so. But not me.

Oh, I missed the first 4 minutes, so I didn't see the beginning credits where it said Based On A True Story, if that is the case then it gets a few extra bonus points... Thanks for the added info Jim...
Speaking Pesci in another Thread, I watched an older movie a couple of nights ago... Couldn't find anything on and I came across a movie called "Gone Fishing", I had never heard of it before so I checked out the info, sounded good, then I saw who was in it, Joe Pesci and Danny Glover, well that sealed the deal, I clicked it on, I missed the first 20-25 minutes though, so I'd like to see it from the beginning... But regardless of that I still found the movie to be quite enjoyable and pretty funny...
I had no idea they had done another movie besides the Lethal Weapon movies together... It was a very nice treat to see Gone Fishing, I highly recommend if you are fans of either or both, they have some good chemistry together...
I think they should have made the bad guy in the movie Mel Gibson, that would have just added to it all... lol
