Well, I missed it by a day. . .or two. . .but Happy Eight Hours Day (if you're Tazmanian), or Happy Labour Day (if you're Victorian), or Happy Commonwealth Day (God save the queen!)!

And on Sunday we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. So they are closing it off all day and allowing people to do a walk across it... there will also be fireworks and a lazer light show.

I was planning on hending into the city for something completely unrelated, but seeing as they are blocking the bridge and I will have to take the tunnel I might as well walk there

I was assaulted by huge black-on-white text on my usual newspage today about how this day, march 14th, is being heralded as the official "Steak-and-BJ Day", (yeah, really.) a more male-focused version of the 14th of february's Valentine's Day. I looked this up and there seems to be a group of people, I'm guessing guys, who're trying to get the ball rolling on this tradition. As they said, the name was self-explanatory.

As our friends the british would say: I laughed me bollocks off.

Good luck with that!!!

Although I'd have to say, it's cheaper than a dozen roses, and a box of chocolates! :o
