Work Internet = Smokin' !!!

Just did an internet bandwidth test here at work using http://www.speedtest.net and it came back with these impressive results:

That was done today.... but below is the graph showing the best results I've gotten for this connection (which I can usually get after hours):

The best I've gotten is 34970kbps Download and 31204kbps upload... That is roughly the equivilant of a 4.5 Megabytes per second both ways!

As you can see, this is the place I go for my big downloads haha! If only they did not keep an eye on us. :?

Not really when you consider France has 1Gb lines.

I bet it takes us, oh about 10 years before we even see your work's speed domestically. Sucks to be us :D blame telstra for that one.

It'd be nice if the government would actually invest in the internet - that way there wouldn't be so damn many DSL coverage holes.

I remember at my uni, we were getting like 100MB/s. It was fun being able to download full (illegal) games off the net in record speeds and copy them to our USB HDDs.

Pitty I had to leave Uni.
Well if you think about it, this internet connection is being shared by over 1500 computers (PwC has one of Australia's largest network configurations)... if that was channeled into one PC you can guarantee it would be significantly higher. And there is a difference between having a 1GB line, and being able to use it haha.

When looking at the statistics on that website, it says that this average connection speed is fater than 99% of average global connections, the same percentage goes for highest connections... proving your point that it is something of the minority.

But I agree though, Australia is still behind in the broadband internet arena, expecially compared to places like South Korea.

Wow - that sure is a fast connection! I'm envious at you :D

Btw ... I just noticed in the first screenshot the following:
ISP: PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia
I have actually worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Denmark back in 2000/2001 at one of their many offices around the country. Anyway, just felt like mentioning it :D

Hey cool! Yeah, I currently work for them here in Sydney and I am quite happy where I am.

I guess the main reason why their internet is so fase is because they have their own ISP based in our offices.
