Here's a link to a relatively new article in discover magazine about the flying car that you still can't buy.

Now if they made a Lotus Esprit with that technology...
You know, they sort of did once. I forget what James Bond movie it was, but 007 had a Lotus Esprit that 'flew' underwater.

It was not a special effect. The same car actually drove on the ground and worked as a mini-sub in real life. And it perforemd well in both realms. According to production notes, the stunt guys said the harpoons were accurate enough that they were shooting things off each other's heads. They also said that, for the on land chase scenes, the camera car (also a Lotus) had a hard time keeping up with the amphibeous Lotus.

Definite kudos to the engineers who put that together.

The main thing that was fake about the car was that, for underwater travel, the driver compartment actually filled up with water and the driver wore a wet suit.

We've all see the Moller flying car.
Here's another one I hadn't seen before.

Not a VTOL, but probably a lot cheaper than the Moller.

Check out the video:

I remember posting about the Moller a little while back Doc... what was great about it was that it was (in theory) the world's first "affordale" flying car.

-Cub. =o)
