Beware the Ides of Quintilis

Well it's birthday time coming up soon. I am a bit reluctant to age as it's the big 3-0. I can now relate to Chelsea, however not taking it as badly as her. I just kind of a sigh when I think about it. Watching all my younger friends getting married and having kids, and here I am just finally out of college and trying to get that first post college job. *sigh*

However to my credit I am making a television pilot, and working for myself on a modest videography salary. So not all is lost. In fact things are looking up.

On a sort of related note, I went to go watch the new Transformers movie and I must say it was way better than it should have been. Back in the day my entire childhood was about Optimus Prime and the other Transformers. I think that this flick was the perfect birthday gift. Got to hear my fellow canuck Peter Cullen return as the voice of Optimus Prime from the original cartoon. Must admit I almost wet myself hearing him in character again. It's strange the things that you enjoy as a child can be experienced all over again.

I am curious about other people's take on the film, especially those who didn't grow up with those toys or experience that culture. Is it still an okay flick or is it just more hollywood tripe? And no I don't want complaints from the old fans such as myself how they changed the look, story, etc. Save that for a dedicated Transformers forum. I am sure they are teeming with activity right now.

I want an opinion purely for what it is. A stand alone movie. Lemme know what everyone thinks. I know that my opinion is biased so I am curious to see how it is on it's own merit.

Wow really changed topic there, meh. I'm sticking with it.
I never watched the cartoon, so I havent had any desire to see the movie. It doesnt look bad, just not something I would want to see.

Thirty eh? I don't know what to say about that except, congratulations on your coming birthday.

I grew up with the cartoon but wasn't a fan. Also, i am the only person i know who didn't like the film.

I felt it was too long for starters. I wanted to see robots fighting each other and i got all this extra stuff with human characters. It's not that they were bad scenes, i just felt the film could have done with less of it.

Also, i'm just a huge hater of the quick cutting style of action editting. I never know what's going on. The fact that this film had blurry quick cutting action editting really screwed things up for me.

Everything else was cheesy and entertaining. :)

So no one has questioned the title of this post. That leads me to believe that no one is inquisitive enough to figure out what it is. Intriguing.

Also judging by the silence I am assuming no one gives a damn about Transformers either so consider that topic dropped. Question answered.
Oh! Sorry! I just thought the Romans were making a comeback as a world power.

Oh they are Jim, they are. It's a secret conspiracy that has been going on for centuries. Rome never fell, they just decided to lay low for a while. Bide their time before they strike again. Soon we will all be under Roman rule. Here, wear this foil helmet I made. It's the only way to protect us from their thought rays. Shhhh it's a secret.
My lips are sealed.....and my brain too.

I'm a fan of Transformers. :P But now the thread has died from that discussion I don't give a $#it really :D
As am I. Saw it yesterday, and it was two and a half hours worth of special-effects-extravaganzas and childhood memories. Ahh, the nostalgia!

Pirates, vampires, zombies, ninjas, ghouls, aliens, goblins, monsters, robots, sorcerers, undead, werewolves, demons, mutated dinosaur-cyborgs and those pesky phone salesmen! The shotgun is a one-size-fits-all solution!
Happy Birthday Stu! I don't know when it was exactly, but hope it was a good one. Seriously, my thirties have been the best years of my life hands down. So don't be afraid of 'em!! Glad to know things are looking brighter, no more sleeping in your car, right???

Being a GIRL  I was never into transformers, so no way to contribute there. But I might sneak in to see the preview of the new, as of yet, untitled, JJ Abrams movie. (Cloverfield) is the code name so far. Talk about viral, Paramount is having a heck of a time catching up with all the YouTube postings of trailer. Then there's another site. EthanHaaswas right.com . Love that ARG stuff.

So LOST fans, head up!
I was pretty excited with that trailer, and then seeing Abrams's name on it. I wasn't a big fan of Alias (of course, I haven't seen much of it, either), but my love of Lost has earned him a lot of cool-points. Can't wait to find out more.

Actually my B-day hasn't occurred yet. Have we gone that long without a Tex game that everyone has forgotten how to do a little detective work? The title of this post is the key.

On a side note, that trailer does look interesting. I must admit it raised an eyebrow. Good to see that the Blair Witch camera style is in use again . . . except professionally. No more seasick movie patrons hopefully. I recall hearing people in the theater thinking the name of the movie was Bad Robot. I am pretty sure that's the name of the company as Bad Robot would be quite the dumb name for the trailer I saw.
Bad Robot is Abrams production company.
I'm deducing that July 15th is your birthday.

Am I close?
Yepper! You got it. I thought for sure someone would pick up on that fast or at least question the title. Oh well. On a brighter note, no more living in the car for this guy! Well the car is dead BUT OTHER THAN THAT, my sis and I are getting a house together to save on some cash. My studio needs some extra room and the single bedroom apartment just isn't cutting it anymore. So soon I will be lugging all my stuff to a bigger home. Now maybe I can walk around without bumping into stuff. More room to play the Wii!
