Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth (New SCUMM fan game)
Just wondering if anyone has noticed this, I don't believe i've read any discussions on this forum about it: http://www.barnettcollege.com/index2.htm
It's a new fan game. An original story with new characters based on the SCUMM engine used to build Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. It looks promising and will bring back much of that flavour that made 1990's gaming so good. Just wish they'd finish the darn thing.
Speaking of old school Lucasarts, i'm playing the recently re-issued Full Throttle, i'll be playing Grim Fandango next, the only Lucasarts adventure game i've NEVER played. [/url]

Well that's half true anyway. I did play the demo which I wasn't crazy about in all honesty, but other fans of the game told me that it's definitely a game that grows on you. It's a shame they abandoned their adventure range since i'm sure the Frandango style of gameplay would have kept the genre up to date with its immersive visuals. Not to mention the potential to add other elements in such as non-linear story plots and a bit of action here and there.jcarnby wrote:Wow! Just downloaded the demo for The fountain of Youth. That takes me back...I'll have to check that out. Hope the full version does eventually come out.
Joel, you will love Grim Fandango. No other game on the planet is like that one, PERIOD.
"Lambago LEMONAAAAADE!!!!"
But i'm looking forward to it!
But as for Fountain of Youth, they claim to still be working on the game. No release date has been finalised but they are determined to see the project until its closure meaning the completion of the game. The demo itself is actually multi-pathed too which you're soon to discover.
I was the same with Grim Fandango. Played the start of the game (just when you reach the woods I think) and sort of got bored with it, maybe it was the slow atmosphere. Years and years later though I re-bought it and played to the end. Probably would of appreciated it better finishing it all those years ago but it definitely does pick up further down the line and it is very creative and original with its world so its not one to miss.
Thanks for the tip about the Indiana Jones game, good to see fans of the genre creating their own games to keep it alive.

Took the words right out of my mouth! Grim Fandango was a lot of fun. Manny is one of the greatest characters I've come across. A lot of humor in the game, too.Sai wrote:. . . it is very creative and original with its world so its not one to miss.
