You know when you forget something, and then try to remember

How that never seems to work out for ya?

Here's a hunt for treasure! Arranged by our very own me. :D

Well here goes: I heard a very, very, very tiny snippet of music emanating from a car radio that was, surprisingly, in a car, that drove past me earlier.

And this snippet of music brought back memories of a long, long, LONG forgotten song that I CANNOT remember the name of. Nor what artist and/or band that had it. Or how old it is.

So I'm putting my crack team of P.I.'s on it. Meaning you guys here on the board who loves searching the net for obscure and difficult things.

I need help tracing down this thing (I'm tortured!) so I'm asking youse mugs for help. Please ease my suffering by helping me find this song.

The clues are as follows. It's a very melancholy song, kinda soft really. Just one guy singing. It's not a new song, my sister played it on her cassette player waaay back when we were still sharing a roof at our parent's place. I'd say that was back in the period of '93, possibly earlier. So the song is either 1993 or pre-'93.

The biggest clue however, and this is a whopper of a clue too, is a piece of the lyrics, and this is the only bit I recall, as it's part of what I heard from the passing car:

"...all a master plan? Are we really in his hands? Or is.."

Even with the lyrics I'm unable to locate the song.

The person who finds the correct song will earn admiration and glory! Not to mention everlasting gratefulness from yours truly for putting an end to a torment that stretches back almost 14 years.

...Please? :)

Don't mean to sound rude or anything, but if your sister had a cassette with this song on it some time ago, she may have a better memory of this song than you do, even if she doesn't have the tape anymore. Have you tried asking her about it?

Ah, free pizza! And it isn't even lunch time yet!

Actually, Fred never mentioned having contacted family with his inquiry prior to posting here, so it is assumable that his sister has not been asked about the song yet.

Sorry, I should have mentioned, but there's no point in calling my sister and humming her the song, as she doesn't remember it, nor does she still have the tape.

I asked her about it many years ago (about 2000-2001 or so) and she didn't remember then either.

T'was a bootleg copy cassette thingamajig anyways. So no, the sister has no clues.

You'd be surpised what you can remember if you find a piano and try to work out the simple melody to the song. You may remember more and more of the song, and perhaps even more words. If you find a phrase that you are positive that you've interpreted correctly, put quotes arround it and follow the quote with the word 'lyrics' and put this into google. Works almost every time

I can't play instruments... I'm useless with them. Guitars, pianos, everything. Completely. It's shameful, I know...

However, I've tried everything already. I still can't find it.

I'll keep on looking :) I've never met a more persistent song. I think I'll rename it the Ghost Song, the song that only I remember. And it's driving me mad to find it. (There's a story in there somewhere. I might write it later. For now it's in my Notes-section.)

Quest ahoy!!

Hope you find it. I've had a few things like that. There was a game or two that I could only vaguely remember and always annoyed me when it came to mind. Aswell as maybe a kids show. Eventually I went online and found a couple of forums (or sections within a retro gaming and retro kids TV forums) dedicated to remembering old games/shows. You just had to post what you could remember and then the retro TV/game enthusiasts would rack their brains and utilise their known resources :) They helped me remember the shows/game (actually one of the games, Normality, I later found out a friend could of told me since they knew it too!).

I do have one thing that has not yet been solved... man that one annoys me! Posted on a film enthusiasts forum but never got a responce:
>click<.
I just remember it being some film (I've a feeling its a short film but not sure) using stop-motion animation with a city / society of gloves. It was probably not anything recent certainly not within the last 5 years... I think I was a kid when I saw it (I'm 22 now). I imagine it was on Channel 4 perhaps since they used to show alot of alternative things back then.
I remember it being slightly dark with some kind of conflict perhaps and it resulting somehow in a huge pile of these living gloves.
Surprisingly although there aren't alot of films with living gloves, I still can't find it again! Don't mean to hijack the thread, but if anyone has any ideas, feel free to drop me a line ;)

I don't know of one for music but I reccomend finding a forum dedicated to 90s music or perhaps even a forum dedicated to remembering old music. Worth a shot.

EDIT: Wait a minute! Maybe I solved my gloves film!

I guess I'll have to get it and see if I finally found it... It seems to liken the animator who did it to Svankmajer and I certainly get the feeling the animation style was like that (dark and surreal).
They sure put some odd stuff on Channel 4 early in the day! I remember watching Svankmajer's Alice animated film on a morning on Channel 4 as a young kid, which is rather dark and surreal too (even disturbing to some heh, although I loved it and then spent my later years trying to remember it until I put some weird sentence describing something I remembered in google!). Nowdays of course Channel 4 isn't as adventurous or not as much anyway showing over and over property/relocation, decorating houses, auctions, reality TV *yawn* I fondly remember all the great shorts and films they used to show late at night.

Was it called "Trust His Heart" by any chance?

Here's a link to some lyrics.

No, that's not the one, sadly... But I thank you for trying!

That was my first guess, too. Right time period and everything.

That's a light christian piano-filled song. The one I'm thinking of is more... late 80's dark syntheziser-ish. Very mellow tune.

I wonder why I can't find ANY trace of it. It's like it's disappeared.

Have you searched the place where music goes to die. . .Musak?
Never too late for coffee, never too early for beer.
Musak? Please elaborate :D
